A thought on merchandising at the shows....

Postby ArmaniJeans » Fri Sep 08, 2006 10:11 am

Anyone know why they aren't selling any JSS solo CDs, or any of the band's solo/side projects, at the shows? It's not like it's going to cut into t-shirt & "Journey" sales, but it might be a little boost in merch for the musically curious fans who want to hear a variety of sounds from these talented musicians...

The reason I mention JSS in particular is that with Augeri still "official", he's likely taking in a portion of the door and a portion of the merch, while it's almost certain Jeff wouldn't be getting any part of the merch sales. Seems only fair that if people come to a show and like what they hear, they should be able to buy Journey (with Augeri or Perry) & something from the guy they just heard sing. I've been to/worked many shows where the band members' solo or side projects have been available as well as the main-line merch, and just wondered why it wasn't the case here.

FYI: I DID notice JSS' signature on the Journey CD for sale in the merch booths. (which is what got me thinkin') Hmm.

That's not right, IMO... they shouldn't be having Jeff sign albums he had nothing to do with. That's like selling copies of Raised on Radio and making Ross and Deen autograph them.

IMO, I totally agree...but if he is signing them, and still not getting a dime off merch...that's not right. Stick the "Essential Ballads" in the corner of the booth and see what happens, I say. Good way to poll the audience, too. Can't always judge the general concensus by the few who post on "melodi-crock".
