I was just going to post a thread asking where Abitaman is and I was semi worried about him, and that I was hard on him, but he was a good guy. Then, I have to see that sonofabitch in his avatar. Looks like they are pushing him off a cliff...I wish they were.

I remember reading a LOOOOONG time ago that he actually was sick for that concert. Kinda bad timing, since it was filmed and all, but the dude seemed to pull off the energy for the visual aspect pretty well even while somewhat under the weather. IMO he didn't really sound all that bad either, just like was mentioned above that he kinda gave up on the HIGH notes after a few songs.....its still a great show all around with a pretty interesting setlist, though I would have preferred them to film the 7/27/81 show a few nights earlier with the only known performance of "Little Girl" so there would be a better version of that song live out there........

I couldn't imagine having to pull off the schedule that Perry did in 1980-1983....I couldn't name another singer that could ever be consistent with a schedule like that. There were SOOO many shows, I'm sure he had more than his share of off nights.

1:42 to 1:47 and 2:58 to 3:04 tells me there is nothing wrong with his voice. Listen to that carefully. The sound production is shit....instruments going/fading in and out. Nothing is wrong with his voice. Listen to that and tell me what you think.

I do have the audio version of Osaka, July 27th, 1981 concert which has "Little Girl" on it. At one time I have posted that song here for everyone to enjoy. Did you get it when I had it posted ?

I really like the setlist for that show too. The mix of old and new. Also has one of my fav performances of Party's Over (Hopelessly in Love) and Lay it Down.

I too have seen (and heard) this entire Japan Escape show in question. If that is indeed a "bad day" for Perry, then I'm sure that most singers would kill to have as bad of a day as that.
It's certainly not my favorite Journey live performance ever, but still very solid.
