Journey escape on 8 Tack !

Postby zino » Thu Oct 05, 2006 1:30 am

Found an Escape 8 Tarck in a bin at a yard sale this weekend apyeda mere .25 for it. Its kindda weird too see the track listing on in order at all
There were 4 track to and 8 track or they might of ben called programs cant really remember but I do recall the 8 tracks though

1) DSB, Keep on Runnin, Still They Ride

2) Escape, Lay it Down, DOA ( part 1)

3) DOA ( part 2) Mother Father, Stone In Love

4) Whos Cryin, DOA- AGAIN !!, Open arms

It says on the bottom " Due to tape cartridge programming requirements one selection has been repeated'

i guess this was all due to time of each part had to be the same lenght????

If you bought 8 Tracks you didnt get the linear notes and such ???

Anyone know this.

Thanks Anyone have an 8 track player???????

Nope...no liner notes with 8-tracks.

I doubt if very many 8-track players are still living these days.

I always loved the way it would jump to the next "track" right in the middle of a song.

8-tracks were junk. The players were junk.

Hope that helps.

Oh Man...I remember 8-tracks! What a shit technology abomination. Four channels of music, and if you ran out of space on one channel in the middle of the song...tough shit! The damn thing would stop right in the middle of the song, change channels (with a VERY loud click, no less), and then pick up your song right in the middle where it cut it off! And to think this was high tech shit at one point in our lives! Thank god for the CD!

I still have access to an 8track player. It's on my parent's big console stereo.LOL I have no clue if it still works but I do have a bunch of old tapes. Maybe I should try it out. I had one of the ones that you pushed down the handle to change programs.

Mine was a portable too. And it was that lovely 70s shade of pea green.

i had one of those portable ones too, the speakers came apart and had about 12' of wire between for a "decent" stereo effect. Only had a few 8 tracks though. After a while I got tired of beach boys, very tired.

I wouldn't go so far as to call 8 tracks high tech, just basic tech, maybe. The equivilant of an actual vinyl record in your car or wherever.

You think you got tired of the Beach Boys, how about Alice Cooper....it was one of the few and it broke so I mended it and so it was even a better listen  I cannot stand to hear "School's out for Summer"....

I am really proud to say I skipped the 8 track era of "technology".

Lol. 6 big "Ds" if I remember right. And no fancy, smancy speakers (I wish). It was just a blue and white box with a built-in speaker and a big handle. Took that sucker to the beach! Funny that it was so cool back then.

We don't need no stinkin' 8-tracks. I have the first (Journey) and many on LP. Vinyl is final. Play it on my tube amp 1959 turntable.
