To be fair, I'd have to listen to the whole thing to get real specific with a critique, but what I did hear sounded like filler music for a made for tv show. As if it was cheaper to get a recut track from another set of musicians. Did Sharon Osbourn produce this??

I wasn't listening to the music per se. I was listening to the vocals. When I first tuned in, I expected to hear another "strainer" trying to imitate Perry. What I heard was a guy who made the songs his own and didn't cop out once on the highs. I was impressed.

I don't care if everyone on this board and every OTHER board hates the CD, or Kelly Hansen, or his renditions of SEPARATE WAYS and WHEEL IN THE SKY. My only point is that IN MY OPINION, he sounds great. He has a very good voice and should be proud of how well HE sounds on the CD.

Who knows...maybe we're listening to two different things. The only thing I thought was funny was the keyboard. Other than that, I thought the band that backed Hansen was very good. I have not heard the entire CD yet.

That album sucks. I heard some samples of it years ago, and I was disgusted by it. It felt like a mockery more than a tribute. On the other hand, who could do those songs justice? Not many, and certainly none of the performers who tried on that miserable tribute! That's the good and the bad about Journey...no one can touch them. They are in a league all their own.

Here's my point, Larry:

I like the two songs that Kelly Hansen sang.

A million and one people could take the opposite opinion and those opinions would have absolutely NO effect on my opinion. The two songs are excellent...period.

For goodness sakes, it's like arguing about which flavor ice cream is better...as if anyone's opinion on that subject is going to all of a sudden change my mind about whether or not I like chocolate or vanilla better.

Kelly Hansen's version of Seperate Ways... was "Monster" .... absolutely rocking...... no way he spoiled that track...no way!!

Not "for nothing" is Hansen, now the guy singing for Foreigner ..go check him out on www.guitars101.com, there is a great boot of him n Foreigner from a gig this year.... excellent!

Jeez... had Foreigner not bagged him first, Journey would defo have had him on their list.

I personally feel that Hansens "sky high" vocal ability is not fully utilised on Foreigners back catalogue!! ..he wld be more suited to Journey...in fact they would have to raise the keys on some songs to accomodate the guy... lol

The entire tribute album was crap. C-list cock rockers chancing their luck singing Journey. It's a terrible CD. Avoid.

Thanks for the link, McNeil. I'll check out the guitars101 thing. You know, it's funny, but when I was listening to Hansen sing, I was expecting him to cop out and not hit the highs, or crack, but it's pretty obvious that the guy has an even higher range than he sang on Separate Ways and Wheel in the Sky. He's got a great voice and only those who are tone deaf won't appreciate it.

I don't care what the rest of the CD sounds like. I bought it for those two songs.

JSS is good, but Hansen should have been in Journey. His voice is a far better fit, in my opinion.
