I believe

No, not Dean'o's fav tune, but the Fresno boots have converted me, and made me a believer. This line up is unbelievable. Jeff is kicking ass, and with Deen singing a few, WOW! I think Deen is the only singer who has been accused of sounding like Perry who almost actually does! Holy Shit! Not Jeremy, not Hugo, not Augeri (all good singers mind you) but DEEN sounds a LOT like Perry to me. I love the energy in the band now, I love how Jeff is doing the songs, and if Neal doesn't slow down, he is going to ascend into a different universe soon....good God, Neal! 8) Nobody is in Neal's or this band's league right now! and a preemptive get fucked if you disagree

Well, not quite NMT. I think he's good singer, but really doesn't sound exactly like Perry to me. Not as close as Jeremey IMO. If I ever get to go to a show I'd really rather here JSS do all the singing. Nothing personal against Deen, just don't want a Perry imitation in Journey.

I agree regarding Deen, while really good and incredibe for a drummer, I never thought he was quite as good as most of his reviews.

I hopped in my wife's car the other day and she had Journey in the CD player. "Where Were You" was playing and at first I thought it was the Captured CD as that is kind of thin and trebly sounding. But as I took a closer listen I realized that it was a Journey boot I had made and it was Deen singing. Swear to God I thought it was Perry until I listened closer. Just shows you that if you are only casually listening you might not notice the difference. :D

Oh Sherrie,..not exactly an imitation, just his own wonderful voice. When I heard Deen sing for the first time live, in June 06,( this was the first american date) I had no idea he could do a solo of any of the old stuff. I sat down and cried when he unexpectedly, sang Mother Father... I didn't think anyone could do that song justice except SP, but he did and played drums at the same time. It was the highlight of the show for me. SA was really sick and couldn't hardly sing. It's a shmae to loose your job, but the man has no voice left and least not now. Jeff sounds great on all the boots and can't wait til next month to see them all. :)

Oh I know the man can sing I didn't mean to imply that he's not good at it. It's sort of hard to explain, but I really believe the band should have enough of a Perryesque singing style to make the classics sound like Journey is playing them, but I just don't like having someone trying to sound like it's Perry singing them. I also think that since Journey became famous for having a kick-ass frontman, this new kick-ass frontman should do the singing. I have no problem with Deen throwing in on the duets that Perry did with Rollie, or layering in some high harmonies in places to keep Jeff from having to do vocal gymnastics night after night, but I just have a problem with the sharing of the lead vocal duties.

Works for me!! Funny how some come on this board and say a certain singer is better at imitating Perry than Deen is. What goes on behind the scenes, however, is that same singer being called an "imposter" and it being stated that nobody can fill Perry's shoes.

There's just no pleasing some here.

For the record, Deen sounds eerily like Perry, only better. Dude has one awesome voice!

Not me, I'd like to see them continue just like they are with JSS singing the majority but leave a few in of Deen's. Although, I wouldn't mind them changing it up a bit......keep Deen doing Faithfully (does a great job on that one), but change Open Arms or Who's Crying (JMHO) for something else like Patiently/Where were you/La do da/Something to Hide.....he's fantastic on those too. :D

pole muncher, I know Jeremy doesn't sound like Perrry because I've listened to Perry for over 20 years now, so I consider myself an expert on what sounds like Perry. :? Deen doesn't sound like Perry either, just closer to him than anybody else I heard. One exception: That singer for Geofria (sp?) who did that lame song "call to your heart" which sucked but the first 30 seconds of that song I was confused if it was Perry or not. That guy was the best Perry impersonator I ever heard. And no, the dude from Europe does not sound like Perry either. Jeeez, some of you lug heads think just any old high voice sounds like Perry... I wonder if you think grape juice is exactly like burgundy???? :?

Dean is good, just sounds nothing like SP in my opinion (the power). Also SA was totally different to SP aswell, totally different styles. Don't see it, oh well. To me, Jeremey is the only one with the vocal ability among anyone that can match the perry power, and Jeremey might even disagree? I don't know - but he's up there at times. But, I feel at the end of the say NONE of these singers sound exactly like Perry!, SP is one of a kind, and no matter when or what he sings (people will always consider him the best) I know I would, for what he has achieved (a legend).

One of a kind, nobody sounds like him.

David Glen Eisley, singer for Guiffria. Two great albums.

David Glenn Eisley sounded like Perry for a phrase or two but less like Perry overall than anyone I've seen mentioned. He actually was more of a David Lee Roth impersonator, though a better singer, if anyone saw him live with Guiffria.
