I assume you're talking about the "ahhhhhhhhh's" at the beginning and the spoken words, "wicked prophets kill, speaking his name"?? I saw where JSS was asked and he confirmed that they use the Perry voiced intro. Kinda odd, I think. I understand that Perry did not want to be on the Faithfully video at the concert but couldn't stop them from using his voice on the intro to that song. If they are so hell bent on moving on, why don't they prove that and quit using Perry's voice as a crutch? This kinda thing ain't showing anybody that they are doing more than they did with Augeri...EXCEPT JSS is live, not canned, and of course, he's a better vocalist. I guess I'm just tired of them riding almost exclusively on past accomplishments. There's alot of hype with them, but the real substance to back the hype has yet to appear...and they've been hyping for YEARS. Can be frustrating as a fan to see them rely year after year on their 'Perry safety net". I still got the impression from something JSS said that the likelihood of their in-concert song list reflecting any major percentage of new stuff in the future is less than slim. They are too afraid of not having a ticket buying audience, other than a few diehards.
EightyRock, you're confused about the song in question, but the sentiment of your post is the same no matter what the song is. I agree that they need to stop relying on the Perry years to maintain them. If they're going to be viable they need to do some new stuff that will be recognized and accepted. I don't know where Jeff ever said there wouldn't be new songs performed in shows though. It must be an interview that I haven't read.
I can understand why Steve didn't want to be in any way involved with the promotion of the band after he was no longer with them and, therefore, didn't want to be in the Faithfully video they showed at the concerts. I'm glad he didn't acknowledge them during the Augeri years considering how it turned out.
Maybe Steve doesn't mind them using his vocals on the intro to MOL with JSS at the front. It would be like icing on the cake if he were to approve of JSS fronting the band. There's a lot more chance of that with Jeff than there was with Augeri.
