I have been "discussing" this very thing over at the newly created "Back Talk" forum. All Augeri had to do was issue a statement of thanks and have the thread stickied and locked. Augeri hasn't even done that.

What did Augeri had to say?
- Hey guys im sorry i lipped
- Hey guys thanks for your support. im singing again under the shower

He had to lie or tell the truth, probably he can't do either right now
just my 2 cents

We all are. Jeff is the best thing to happen to Journey since Perry, but Perry is still, well, Perry. That's all he needs to be. :D

I've been reading this site for years, back when it had a different name.

Having seen Journey several times since 1999 I have to say that I'm really shocked by the comments. Yes call me a newby but I really don't understand the hatred for Steve Augeri. The guy sang his ass off for years and allowed a band to tour and record that would not have had the ability to do otherwise.

I turned to these forums for news that Steve would be joining the tour next year but I guess that's not the case. It's a shame. I saw him twice sing 'Christmas LIGHTS' at Glen Burtnik's Xmas Xtravaganza and it went over great.

If there is an announcement that Steve will no longer sing with Journey I will definitely support whatever he chooses to do.

These kinds of statements really really bug me. Do u not think if Augeri hadn't accepted the job they wouldn't have hired someone else? Do u realize he was one of many who auditioned?

He didn't volunteer to sing for Journey u know? Did u know that? He got paid & made a ton of money. Let's get realistic here. Then, he lost his voice & lipped to tape. He should have stepped down then, but he didn't.

He is NOT a saing. He is NOT the 2nd coming of Christ. Sorry to disappoint u.

The outcome is that Augeri hasn't said a thank you to his beloved, adoring fans. Which is a very simple thing to do.

I have no doubt that Perry can "carry a tune" a bit, though he didn't show it singing with the Chisox...I do not believe he can sing well enough to sustain even a brief tour. I think he could sound ok given the benefit of a studio, though not even as decent--barely passable by Perry standards--as he sounded on FLOPSOME and TBF.........even Rod Stewart can still "sing"...
I'm glad to see an official end to the rerecording vocal rumor

People on here argue (quite strongly) that Steve Augeri is the one to blame for lip-synching to the tapes. But what about the rest of the band? Don't they share the blame for this? It surely must have been a band decision to do this.

Of course it was. There's no way he did it on his own.
It's also a band's decision to let lawyers fight. There are at least two sides to every battle. If there is indeed anything legal going on between SA and Journey, then Journey has to be fighting also, which makes them partially responsible for any 'delay'.
No one can solely blame Augeri here...for anything.

He could do neither...and just issue a simple "thank you for the kind messages". If he was so concerned about generating speculation and controversy why did he make an appearence at a recent Journey show in New York?

Yeah, I never got that idea that Augeri somehow enabled Journey to tour again. Neal was gonna keep Journey going after Trial By Fire no matter what. The singer could have been Steve A, Kevin Chalfant, Geoff Tate, any number of people.

I acknowledged that Perry can still sing a bit. I'm not convinced he can sing well enough to satisfy himself in the studio or live.

I think a word from the official Perry Camp makes it clear about his vocal capabilities. What or how he chooses to use or not use it is personal decision. He doesn't OWE anyone an explanation. He had a career most could only dream of. AND, from his talent and hard work he has financial freedom to live the life he wants. I think most people who indulge in this malicious dialogue are envious of his life and accomplishments. Did you ever think maybe he enjoys the peace and tranquility of his life today? To enter the den of lions of the music biz again, maybe a sacrifice he is unwilling to make. You know, like been there, done that?!

Maybe he was legally advised =absolutely no public statements of any sort; maybe its even in his new contract=and even a simple "thank you" could be interrupted in the courts as a public statement if its posted anywhere. If you had millions of dollars on the table for your future-wouldn't you put everything else on hold for a time to keep from jeopardizing it all? Right now the fans will just have to wait....Showing up at a concert through the back door to see how the new guy is doing isn't the same imo. 8)

Absolutely agree with you Gianna!! I've ALWAYS believed Perry CAN still sing, I've NEVER stopped believing in Perry's singing abilities!! :) He's definitely earned the right to live his life as he pleases , and NO ONE can take away Perry's GREAT accomplishments in music, that something Perry can feel VERY proud of forever. :D
