Check Out This CD

Postby Blueskies » Sun Dec 10, 2006 8:19 am

I went out last night to a bar on Siesta Key called Beach Club. Wasn't planning on going there but as I was walking by I heard the music and went in. Two guys were singing and playing acoustic guitars, name was Aqua something. They sounded good so I stuck around. Started talking to some other women at the bar...one was the girlfriend of a guy in the next band to come on, The Untouchables. We were talking about music, so of course I brought up Journey. They were in their 20's and didn't know anything about Journey, but when I mentioned Jeff Scott Soto, she told me I should talk to the lead guitarist. When the band went on break she took me out to talk to him. His name is Gary Schutt. I started talking about Jeff being in Journey and he tells me he's good friends with Jeff and that they recorded a CD together. He said " If you buy me a shot of Yeager I'll give you one". That was a deal...actually bought him 2!! He gave me his CD called Sentimetal, which Jeff sings all the songs on and coproduced, mixed and engineered. They made it in May 1994. He gave me his business card with his number and website ( and no it wasn't a hookup..just to check out the site! haha!) and showed me that he had Soto and Neal Schon's phone numbers. How cool was that by a chance encounter?!! Shows what a small world it really is! Super nice guy! I even got them to play a Journey song before the night was thru...after much bugging on my part!! I think they did it just to shut me up! Go check out his website....you can listen to samples of his stuff and get the CD with Jeff called Sentimetal.

heres his website....click on the heart...thats the one with JSS....I'm digging it...great rockin' song's and some ballads............ Thanks Gary!!

Very cool,TVL! :D

Actually,Gary Schutt was the bass player in Jeff's band in the Live at the Gods show.
If I remember correctly,Gary worked on the DVD with Jeff - he did the encoding and the editing for Shut Up Productions.

Nice story,TVL,thanks for the details!

True, he was also the bass player on Jeff's Queen Convention 2003 DVD. Cool TVL, what a small world.

I thought he looked familiar, but I couldn't remember where I had seen him before till after we talked. Very cool, nice guy.....easy to talk to. I'm sure he will remember me! haha!! I had gotten a bit too lit and was driving them crazy to play some Journey! I'm not much of a drinker, anyway, but after last night I've definately sworn off the stuff! Anyway...I sent Gary an email to thank him again for the cd. All of you Florida people can get his schedule where he'll be at his site....go check his band out. 8)

Don't understand how I have missed on Soto's work before he started with Journey. He has been all over the place. Done a huge volumn of work...with varity...from disco to metal. Amazing! Talented guy for sure....glad Neal had him to turn to and I hope Journey records with Jeff as the singer. 8)
