Yes, it seems there IS hope for real music

This was in an article in yesterday's Connecticut Post newspaper, regarding trends and themes for the New Year:

There was a bullet-point listing, with comments.....this was one of the points:

* Rap is on its way out. "It's lost its edge", says [Walter] Smith, [President of Yankelovich marketing research]. "Rap's influence will remain strong in other forms of music, though." Trend veteran Celente puts it another way: "Play the instrument. Attitude doesn't count - anyone can have attitude. People want old-school cool. And quality is the key."

boy, you'd hope that'd be right, but I don't believe it for an instant unfortunately...

The paper would probably trash "real" music if it was popular also, so there you go.
