Being that Infinity, Evolution, Departure, and Escape tunes were all in the setlist, he still had to go high for those?

Hmm.

Wouldn't that lend more credibility to his assertion that it was a deliberate decision to change things up? Did he sing the songs the same way in concert as he did in the album?

Ask him? Thinking now, off the cuff, I would say the album is lower...

A singer like Perry who had such an impressive control over his delivery, sure knew how to manage his voice. He could go so easily from one level of his range to the next,so I am sure that during the Frontiers Tour he shaped his vocals the way he pleased.

What he said tho,was that the longer he toured, the higher his range got (voice was warming up because of nightly concert practice),so by the end of Frontiers it got harder to use his lower range.

Personally,I believe there were two things going on at the time:a slight vocal fatigue and a desire to use his lower range in order to preserve his chords.

I'm on perryville and my name is Sharon, so is it me you are referring to Sperryfan ?
If it is me you are referring to then i have never taken anything from ANY site in my life, and i also DO NOT trash any other site especially Steve Perry fan sites.

I also have this seperate ways video and have had for a long time it was sent to me amongst other Steve Perry/Journey material by a very close friend.

Perry looked ok, but Neal is wearing a Gas station attendants uniform with the sleeves lopped off; Friga looks like a fuckin bumble bee, and Ross is wearing yellow fishing waders. Goddamned guys, what were you thinking?

Yup, the earliest time it was played that I am aware of of was on 05/21/82 at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago.

If anyone has ever said that either of Steve Perry's replacements sounded better or had more passion than he did, they should watch this video. People tend to forget the past for some reason. Journey with SP can never be matched or surpassed.

There are 3 videos, this one, Who's crying now, and Open arms. They are all taken from Day On The Green festival in 1982. There was a time when MTV/VH1 etc used to play them all quite regularly. They are all Pro Shot of course.

Just goes to prove that there is so much unreleased stuff in the Journey archives somewhere (both audio and video) that they could release something new every year for the rest of our lives.
