I saw SA when Journey played the House of Blues...only reason I went was the speculation SP might show up, as tthis was the night of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Seeing Smitty on drums was awesome, but SA didn't cut it at all. In fact, I was surprised Journey was even doing this....is was so Karaoke. No power in his voice....reaching for notes....straining....etc. I will say that Dean's voice was a nice surprise.

Having seen tthem with SP live many times, this show was sad to say the least.

Saw Augeri prety much every time Journey came through NY...up until about 02. (That was the DEAD13 tour, right?) I think by 02, I was sick of state-fair/pig-auction venues....and I needed a break....So I'm sad to say I never really witnessed the lippin first hand.

I also saw him perform with Tall Stories in the early 90s....he was fucking fantastic that night. Mr Big was a complete fucking letdown after tall stories performed...to this day, that TS show rings through as one of the most memorable I've ever seen...

I was working at a record store when TS was released...and I remember seeing the CD arrive in the usual new-release monday night shipment and said to msyelf "these guys look like rockers, let me open it up for some in-store play"...and was completely blown away at the record....and bought myself a copy to take home.

As a result, I had the CD from the first day of release...and knew every song by heart by the time Tall Stories and MR Big came to NYC the following march (I believe). I got to the venue VERY early (moreso to see TS than Mr Big) and we waited on the front of the line until they opened the doors. Ran right the front of the stage and parked myself there till TS came out. You know how it is with opening bands, 95% of the crowd doesn't give a shit. Well, I was right up front from the first song till the last...banging my head and singing along with every word. The drummer and guitarist both took note of how much I was enjoying the show...and when they were done I got two very emphatic hand slaps by them. It was a cool show!

Yup!!!

Cool thing was that Jack Morer must've had an equipment issue (either that or he went shopping that afternoon) because he played a strat that still had the darn tag on it...the whole show....

You have got to be fucking kidding? YOU wore red leather pants? Forget it was to a Journey show, but I need to ask again; YOU actually put a pair of red leather pants on, looked in the mirror, and said, "that's good?"

You are wacked out of your skull and so are the others who joined you in this retarded safari. Speaking of Safaris......A few of us have a plan in place for Stevie Awfuls solo tour. O yeah, we are going, just not as ourselves.

I don't think you are going to jave the nerve to do what DCVader, Duke22 and I have planned.

Augeri will walk off the stage, I guarantee it.

Ok, I'll play along. I always thought you were kind of cool on BT. Yes, I need some red leather pants. This idea we have is the most out of the box idea we have come up with. Duke22 is creative as all Hell.

IN terms of the lead vocal, we had only discussed it within Journey as a concept. The actual act of "doing it" was from my past as engineer for other acts ( Paul Anka, UB-40, Silver Convention, et al )who do indeed run taped (sampled / Pre recorded / Whatever the %@#(! you want to call it ) vocals, both lead and backing, instruments, etc., and do it as part of the show with no apologies.

As for INSTRUMENTAL PARTS, those have always been the under the auspices of Keyboard Central, and Jon has made no secret of using the latest sampling technology to achieve the closest rendition of those songs as is possible.

The hard part for lip synching a lead vocal is hearing yourself in your "in-ear" monitor while the "tape" vocal overpowers what you're hearing, it's ungodly, the type of perception havoc that sort of shifting creates. It is audible if you're using onstage monitors. With the new molded ear bud types, the temptation is there to do it because only the monitor and front of house mix engineers are aware of anything different.

There are no simple answers for complex questions.

While I doubt there realistically will be a SteveA solo tour (I mean, Journey isn't big enough in Europe for a former fill-in lead singer to launch a solo career off of, and while he may get limited distribution for an album here, I doubt he'd get promoters to back a tour), I really want to know what you guys have in mind.

Although, now that I think about it, you wouldn't post your plans on a public forum like this, so forget I asked...but good luck...lol.

I don't post here very often now but I wanted to say I don't think there will realistically be a solo tour either. It would be great if there was but I don't think it will happen. Call me cynical, but just because he is recording an album doesn't mean his voice is up to touring again.

Dread to think what yer plans are Deano but I'm sure all will be revealed if and when he decides to tour
