O.T. Blues legend B.B. King hospitalized

Postby MJM1959 » Sat Jan 27, 2007 1:31 am

B.B. King was hospitalized for undisclosed reasons but was in good condition early Friday, a hospital official said.

The 81-year-old bluesman, who had been scheduled to perform at the Grand Opera House on Thursday night, was admitted to The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, said Paul McCarthy, a nurse administrator.

King had a low fever but was resting comfortably, hospital spokesman John Coloen said Friday. He said he had no information on the ailment for which King was being treated, but he and McCarthy said King was expected to be discharged later Friday or Saturday.

King has a history of diabetes.

Messages left early Friday with King's management agency, Lieberman Management LLC of New York, were not immediately returned.

With his trademark guitar that he named "Lucille," King racked up hits including "The Thrill is Gone," "Every Day I Have the Blues" and "You Upset me Baby."

Born on a plantation in Itta Bena, Mississippi, King started out on street corners playing for pocket change, according to his Web site. He went on to become one of the nation's most influential blues musicians.

In December, President Bush awarded King the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his musical contributions

I saw B.B. in concert last year and was totally blown away. You do not just hear the blues when he sings and plays, you can feel the blues. you can tell the difference when someone is playing from the heart.

GET WELL B.B.!!!

he is out and on his way to the Dallas area for a show.

I had flashbacks of James Brown when they said he was in the hospital. RIP JB--WE love you.

It was rainy and cold when he was here is Corpus 2 years ago. he was sitting at the front of the stage, in the open rain and sez, "I'm 80 years old and I have diabetes. If I can play in this rain then you can stand! now get the F*** up!

Yes Sir. I missed him last year--I chose to see Journey instead that night. :D

When he did the Muddy Waters tune, Rock Me Baby (til my back ain't got no bone!), well, it was amazing. there aren't enough words for that talent.

Is my blue heart showing???? the doctor hears Ross' bass line from LTS when he listens to me with the stethescope. hehe
