...sorry, but I had to do this. If you have ITunes, and you like ANY of the bands on the MR board, you NEED TO check out "Norway". Un-be-f***inglievable band. I almost passed them by because Andrew's review for the sound quality of the latest release was less than favourable, but as a rule, I always check out any band whose songs score a 90% or over on his scale, regardless of the "sound" rating. Well, thank god. I think Andrew was a little hard on the production issues, although he does have a point, but when the music is THAT good, who cares? Check out "I Don't Wanna Love You", "When You Close Your Eyes" (not a Night Ranger cover), "The Only One I Need", and "Won't Let You Down" to name a few. Absolute classic melodic rock magic. Yet another band I never would have heard of had it not been for Mr. McNeice. Andrew, thanks again for saving music! They will erect statues and name highways after you in the 21st century!

Well, you clearly took notice of the review and the points within and discovered something cool :)

Glad you like it - and as I said in the review - fabulous songs....really good stuff.

Thanks, 7 Wishes. I wil definitely check them out.

If it wasn't for Drew, I would never have downloaded one of my favorite CDs of all time, Shy's Sunset & Vine. The wombat rules.

 It did lead me to order their previous CD, which I didn't like very much.

I just discovered the band, Royal Hunt, through Andrew in a round-a-bout way...never would've known about them...and, I haven't been this excited about a band in a long time. :) I actually don't pay too much attention to reviews by ANYONE - it is clips & samples that hook me or don't. I'll check out "Norway" - I take it they are from Scandinavia?

Yeah, the John West thread, right? I need to get that live DVD. That band kicks major arse.

The DVD is incredible...I am addicted to it & love every song on it. This band has a lot of passion & really seem to have fun on stage. The price was a bit steep but then again I got it thru Amazon & not NEH. I may have a problem with the compatibility of my DVD player as it stops in the middle of one song & jumps to the next (returned it & got a new one & it still does it)...but, really a great concert. I gotta get the CD now...and more. :)

Thanks to Larry's post a while back, I also discovered Royal Hunt and I love the Royal Hunt DVD,, a great band with great stage presence.
I bought mine through the Melodic Rock advertised CDINZANE (www.cdinzane.com) , they have lots of cool stuff there with great service, great prices and speedy deliveries.

I have to check out "Norway" .... Another (bit heavier) band I discovered through message boards a while back is the swedish band "Evergrey". Their "A Night To Remember" DVD is truely a masterpiece .

Norway are actually from New Jersey and are very Journey friendly with their sound -

Check out the German band Frontline as well. Very much like Journey in many ways, with just a bit harder edged sound. Their vocalist sounds alot like Perry as well

I wish I could trade someone my 2 Journey tee-shirts never worn, for something - anything.

BTW, here is Royal Hunt's myspace for song/video samples: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=85239743
John West has a gorgeous voice - listen to the clip of "Fear"...but, that '99 "Lies" video knocks me out...most especially the very end!! (and, he does kinda remind me of SP in that way & with his long hair.)
