Glasgow - its a long way....

Postby Uncle heFTy » Mon Mar 05, 2007 3:11 am

But worth every minute and mile.

We got lost in Sheffield (trying to find Jeff's hotel), we got lost in Glasgow (trying to find ours), queued 20 mis for the hotel car park, got given a room that was already occupied and got to the Glaswegian Armadillo with about 15 minutes to spare and pay an outrageous £3 for a 33 cl bottle of 'Budweiser'. Now, apart from that, the evening was spectacking fricular, stucking funning and every other malaproped hyperbole that I can muster.

From Neal's solo to Separate Ways it was a roller coaster of a ride - even down to Ross Valory's mock Scotts accent. A truly wonderful night.

The audience were very noisy -even for Danny and Tony and highly appreciative.

Next 'fix' Manchester on Tuesday.

I didn't understand a blasted word you muttered in the first paragraph, except Budweiser (hometown beer).

Sounds like you enjoyed yourself though.

That would The Lion Rampant, the Royal flag of Scotland. JSS was also wearing the Scotland football top.

Just got back home from Nottingham show. Was SO looking forward to this. If Elson was mixing front of house he wants fucking hanging. The sound was absolutely abysmal. I have seen everyone of any stature over here over the last 30 years and this was desperately bad. Nottingham Royal Centre is a bonafide concert venue, acoustically tuned for sound, not some big prefab bin like the NEC at Birmingham. The guys played their hearts out, Soto was a superstar, absolute superstar when you could hear him; energy, vibrancy, hit every note bang on and ran around like a mad thing. But the PA system or Elson sucked, it really did. It was as if Elson forgot to mic deens kit up - no kick drum in the chest, you had to try and pick the fucking bass end out, couldn't feel a thing. Someone must have stuck cotton wool in my ears while I wasn't looking. Imagine a good band in a school hall with an overstretched PA system, that was tonight's sound. Ironic, really ironic, although SA was lipsynching at Milton Keynes last July, the band sounded huge, clear and seperated, and that was outside, where normally its a little lost if the wind is up.

Would really like to hear what others thought about tonight, especially if they were up in the gods or the balcony? Sorry to sound so pissed, but reports from SHeffield and Glasgow were so good...

You will see the flag a little clearer on the football top on some of these photographs

Dude let me clue you in

Football is renowed the world over as the beautiful game played and watched the world over, more than any other sport.
American Football is played in a small number of countries by blokes with padding and protection in case they get a little hurt. Awww who are the big blouses now.

Sorry you had a disappointing show. I wasn't there and at the show I was at, Newcastle, the sound was fabulous where I was standing, 6 rows from the stage. HOWEVER, there was a woman in the front row of the circle who early on in the show was repeatedly yelling down at Jeff "We can't hear you" - so obviously there were some problems there, too.

Yes, I got the impression the sound was not what it should have been generally. There are tickets available for Birmingham which I was tempted to go to but could not face more of the same! Dunno.......?
