I was thinkin'...

Could Edge of the Blade be about Herbie? I know the band had quite a bit of a falling out with him, and the lyrics suggest legal matters and normally you don't go through that with a girl. At least in a typical Journey break up song.

There are some lyrics that might suggest it's about Herbie/the band:

"You've been trying very hard / Now this time you've gone too far"
"I hear rumors all around / Contracts and lawyers / Champagne downtown"
"You're caught up in the power / A blue magical maze / Now the circle is broken / In a spellbinding rage"

What do you guys think about this?
"They won't take me. They won't break me."

I wouldn't think so, the falling out was after the Frontiers era.

I thought it was about the divorces in the guys' lives.

I'm just guessing, but I think that could have been related to something that was happening to them in the music business.

It's hard to believe that HH did anything underhanded with the bands finances. He wouldn't have had the nerve to do the Castles Burning interview the way he did, if he had, imo. Someday, someone will write the book on it.

A couple members of the band were going through personal relationship crises and they were also having problems between Steve and Herbie at the time, so I would think those lyrics could have been a combination of both. They were just putting all the shit in one basket, so to speak.

I didn't like what HH said about the guys, I sometimes wonder if HH did that interview that way just to add alot of drama, so more people would read it. However, I still give him "huge credit" for bringing Perry in to Journey. :)
