OT:G3 Satriani concert

Postby Blueskies » Mon Apr 02, 2007 12:08 pm

Went to see Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, and Paul Gilbert.. the G3 concert.. Friday night at the HOB in Orlando. Just wanted to give a brief review.... This show freakin' ROCKED!!! Petrucci started, then Gilbert came on, then Satriani, individually, then all 3 joined onstage and closed the show out together. I'm sure most here know, but for those that don't... these guys are some amazingly awesome guitarists. The bass player and drummer, Jeff Campitelli, are really great too. I have the music, but this was the first time I had seen any of them in concert. I was blown away! Got some autographed stuff, and was even given some by some really cool people I met that came just for the concert from England..( if you or your son are reading like you said..HI!...and.THANK YOU again, so much! Love the British!!) I was so impressed with the show that I bought a concert t-shirt...something I havent done in years at any concert I've been to! If a show is coming anywhere near you for the rest of the tour, this one is a must- go! :D 8)

I just attended this show last night in Baltimore with a friend and it was absolutely incredible!! The amount of talent on stage was insane! Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, Dave LaRue (sp?), and Mike Portnoy as well as the others, (sorry can't remember names). The note density during the 'jam' at the end was ridiculous. All top notch players, a wankfest for sure! :P

It was general admission and we were right up at the front of the stage. The show was about 4 hours long and we stood the whole time. Well worth the sore feet and aching back....damn, I'm getting too old for this! :(

The main reason I didnt go to this years G3 is because Steve Vai (who has been in all previous G3's with Satch) wasnt in the line up .
The best G3 that I went to was when Vai and Satch jammed with YngYang . Besides the 3 guitar gods,, they had other amazing talents playing with them, including Billy Sheehan(Bass), Tony McApline(Guitar), Stu Hamm (Bass) and Patrick Johanson(drums).
