That's what I do too.Talking on air is definitely much less stressful than singing on a stage.
I can sing, and let's say if someone would point a gun at me,I'd go out and perform in front of people.Actually...I think I would do that without the threat..LOL

I'd sure buy a CD with our MR artists. Some talented people here. :) Great idea!

I'm the "Friga" of my band, who just got started out.... we're called The Microwaves. I do the bulk of the lyrics, rhythm guitar, keyboards, and BG vocals.

We're bringing sexy Melodic Rock back.

I sing, write all the music and lyrics and play rythmn guitar on the cd.

My main influence is John Mellencamp so the music is acoustic guitar based. I have a bunch of great new material for a new cd but I have been pretty inactive lately so I haven't recorded. There's always tomorrow though! :D

Eric, I really like JM and can hear the influence. Good stuff! :)

Just started out means just that... we don't have a MySpace or any recordings yet, we've only had one jam together! Come on! :P

The plan is to play hard progressive rock with melodic flair.... the three main influences the whole band shares are Rush, Dream Theater, and Journey.

Acoustic you say?, gonna have to check your sound out.
Anything like Ed Roberston solo acoustics from BNL?
Love that dude's work.

Edited to add............
Just checked out two of the songs you have posted in the link.
Good stuff, nice sound and your voice is calming, good work.
Can I buy this in a store?, ordering online is not an option for me.

Well, I have never been in a band and have always wanted to. I have been trying to teach myself guitar (very slow going though,) but I do sing, but I'm not a trained singer. The last time I performed in front of people (besides my church) they compared me to Dennis DeYoung with a country accent...lol!

I am tone deaf. I couldn't find the right key if you dangled it in front of my face! I don't play any instruments either. My daughter plays guitar, and she was better than me after her first half-hour lesson! She's been playing for about 9 months now, and she's dying to get an electric! I told her that she has to practice every day for several months without complaining and she can have it. She doesn't like to practice much, so I think I have time to save!

I started out playing guitar and singing in a folk trio. took up the flute and studied classical flute and voice (opera--YIKES!!) up until '92. my degree is in flute and I am also a certified public school educator-band, orchestra, music and choir, K-12. my "band" is the 1st Baptist Church orchestra. we are televised every Sunday morning. I'm on alto flute this Sunday! cool! I play in the municipal band in the summers every Sunday on the bay in Corpus Christi-show tunes, movies themes, marches, POLKAS!!!, band music, etc.

I played guitar and sang in a Christian rock band in college. we recorded but it fizzled. I spent many many days on the road with one touring group or another in high school and college.

our flute choir will be in studio this coming Sunday in fact. more on that later.

I am putting together an inspirational cd of flute music for my mom.

my 4 daughters and I are working up something. we will record next year sometime.

underneath this conservative facade I'm freakin LITA FORD!! hehe. can't quit my day job, eh?

fun topic. who else?

I absolutely LOVE the flute. I've been thinking about taking lessons.

Me, I'm not really a musician, though I sang and played keys in a band just out of highschool.
That ended when I went to college in London, where I starting going out to nightclubs. I became fascinated with Djing.
When I came back home to SF, with a great record collection, I learned how to DJ, (no it's not just playing records).
So I spent many years traveling around DJing in nightclubs and at huge events, sometimes in the middle of corn fields or deserts or even parking lots. I moved to New York City and started producing and remixing. My records sold well in Europe, so I spent some time DJing over there. I also managed a recording studio, learned my way around a studio, and made my living as a studio and live engineer's assistant.

I know most of you hate club music, but DJing for thousands of people in different countries was the most incredible experience. One time, I played for a crowd of 50,000. Mind-Blowing!!!

I have an undergraduate degree in Music Engineering, have a great ear, but can't really play many instruments. Kinda like a coach who knows a hell of a lot but can't play! I'm learning to play the guitar now, though. Not really that easy. I commend anyone who can play it. And it makes them sexy!!! :D

I've sung on stage before 2000 people, but that was theater. Not with a 'band'. Nerve wracking to sing solo (at least it was for me). MOVING and singing at the same time is hella hard. Doing a full on dance at the same time as belting out a song, damn near impossible unless you really train.

Both of my daughters started playing flute in middle school. One continued with it through high school marching band the other decided to stick with her earlier choice of piano and gave up the flute. I loved going to the marching band competitions and the flutes definitely stand out from the pack more so than the clarinets.
