ROR was a great Hall & Oates album.

This is a really good Hall and Oates record from back in 2003:

You're right. I only heard it a couple of times...but I liked what I heard back then. Kinda forgot about it though so I never bought it.

That's cubby's position. Whatever happened to that guy?

I don't know, NIG. I've had a few good scraps with him!

Actually, it's hard to say that Cubby is wrong on this....except I guess that progressive/jazz rock was a fashionable genre in the mid-1970s so it could be argued that Journey were following the money even then.

Isn't music supposed to be about money? Isn't ALL ART ultimately about money?

What's wrong with that? Since ancient times artists have sold their art.

Come on now. There's no nobility in art. The only thing that can be asked of an artist is that their art comes from their heart - that it's not contrived.

Sure. There's some things that are "hot" or immediately marketable. The music industry is no different than the auto industry. Chrysler came out with the cab forward design - it became hot/desirable and everyone else followed.

The unique thing about JOURNEY is that they've always been willing to seek new frontiers in music. THAT is their art. So why shouldn't they use that to follow the money and sell that art?

How else aer they supposed to make a living?

I was on a return flight from California back to Ohio several years ago and the airline had H&O exclusively as their in-flight music. Unbelieveable catalog!

Marigold is GREAT!!!!

Only H&O album I hate is the latest one - the all covers affair...LAME!

Other than that, I so adore these guys....H2O, Big Bam Boom, Live At The Apollo (one of the GREAT live albums of the 80s), Marigold Sky, Change Of Season....all brilliant...

No he ain't Larry, that's a good album, he's a little wrong on the covers though  They do great justice to My Girl and ooooooooooooh child, is, well excellent. As far as cover albums go, they've produced a good bag with this one, not a masterpiece but it gives you insight into their musical influences...cool.

The one thing with H&O is they work fantastically well as a duo, they compliment each other and have a solid band with the one and only T- Bone always up for a good time. They're one Duo/Band that doesn't need to re-invent, they have the formula for good soulful music and 37 odd years on, they're still top of their game.

I'll also rave about Phunk Shui by Oates, Electric Ladyland and All Good People only add to this Duo's overall appeal...sunk without a trace but still a good album  Hall as you'll all know has also produce some great solo material.

Lastly and I know this is going off topic but the instant live H&O offer at their concerts (Double CD of the evenings performance, available 10 mins from the end, for those that don't know) is something Journey should look at. I have a double of the Glasgow concert and I'm tellin' ya, it's a great unique memory of a fantastic live show, wart 'n' all.

Larry, go listen to Marigold dude
