Unless the social issues are the whole ball of wax for you, then maybe I get it. Is that it?

Where have you gotten the picture that ANYONE here defends Bush's entire record? I don't get it.

Trust me.. I do. However, minds aren't changed on this stuff as easily as I once thought. Especially through wires/internet. I don't waste my time trying anymore. Yet, sometimes it's fun to read these types of threads. Sometimes I have an urge to laugh.. and I sometimes laugh out loud, so to speak. :D

war on terror - good
economy - great
border - bad
supreme court - great
campaign finance - bad
spending (even though that's technically congress) - bad
kyoto - good
Truly a mixed bag for me. But much better than the alternatives in 2000 & 2004. How's that for a non-emotional conservative viewpoint. Don't expect that from some on this board :D

I was not into politcs at all until after 9/11. Then I started paying attention. I thought W did a great job after 9/11 and comforted a horrified country. I saw the anguish in his face, I saw him reach out to people and I trusted him. I believed him to be a good man. I've supported him through a lot. However, I cannot honestly say I support him anymore. His stance on immigration and now a complete 180 on global warming have left me completely pissed off. I still think he is a decent human being, but the W who took the bullhorn with his arm around the firefighter swearing vengeance on those who hurt us is long gone. He has lost his spirit to fight. He has lost his backbone. As far as Iraq goes, who knows how that will turn out. My son is over there and tells me things are not nearly as bad as we think they are. Unfortunately, the stories of what good is happening will never be heard here and America has no patience for this war anymore.

I'm not asking about his "entire record." Bush seems to be supported by some here, and I'm simply asking why?

It's not a matter of support Bush, but rather correcting untruths.

I don't think he's lost his backbone Barb. I think that's the compassionate conservative that he campaigned as being. You just have to take the good with the bad and thank god it wasn't Gore or Kerry the past 8 years! Buck up little beaver!

Yep. His saving grace is his refusal to pull the troops out of Iraq. Other than that, he'll cave to just about anything these days.

While we're on this topic, let me bring up another one...Condoleezza Rice. Is anyone else as disappointed in her as I am? I personally think she's been a disaster as Secretary of State.

Yeah the economy's great for most of the country. Here in Michigan unemployment is up over 7% and our Dem. gov has a great plan to raise taxes even more. Plus implement new ones on recreational activities, camping, boating. etc... Going down the tubes here. But if worse comes to worse I'll move to Indiana! :D

hmmm...I've been at the end of having to make a certain decision, very, very difficult for me, but I finally went with research. And, I have eye problems (legally blind in my left & extremely bad vision in my right) & holes in my retina so I carry a fear of going blind.

Damn, sorry to hear that Tammy. Glad you've stuck with your name change. Some have relented and went back to their original names. All good though, I never meant to start ANYTHING. :)
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

lol. I was thinking about changing it before - I took "silver blue" from the lyrics of GMG, but it sounded more like a race horse name. :)
