You know, since all this news has surfaced, my heart has broke for Jeff. He has been a very respectful rock god here, posting, pm'ing, giving backstage passes, giving his time, Rebecca has been sharing him with all of us and its got to be hard on her as well. I kept saying this is all so UNFAIR...but then it hit me. Nice guys always win in the end. They get fucked the hardest sometimes, but they bounce back up and are 10 times stronger.

I look for Jeff to bounce back from this and prevail over this situation. It was a serious sucker punch from Neal and Jon, but in the end, they will get what karma dishes out.

I guess Jeremey's learning how to be part of Journey right from the start.

Lesson 1...How to Lie

wonder what lesson 2 is

If this is true, you can't blame Jeremy for that.
Lesson number 2 is "don't turn your back on Neal or Jon"
Lesson number 3 is make sure you have a good voice coach. Their constant touring could really wreck your pipes.
Lesson number 4 is get a friggin' killer lawyer. Actually, that's lesson 1 with these a-holes.

If it is Jeremy, it's cool for him to have the opportunity, but the band has put him in a no win situation as far as
the fans go. Meaning, that people are pissed that Perry, Augeri, and Jeff are gone. They've totally f'ed their
credibility. NOW, they're going to throw Jeremy into it. I hope that he doesn't get damaged by the train wreck that
is Journey.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

The issue for Journey has really never been wanting to live in the past and keep the Perry era alive. The issue was, is, and always will be that Perry isn't in the band, so that era died when he exited stage left! Most bands with the legacy and body of work Journey has, do, and in my opinion, should hold on to what made them great! There is absolutely no shame in that. The problem with the guys calling themselves "Journey" today is that they don't have the talent to hold on to what they once were!

Great post Brywool.

It makes no sense to be trying to vilify Jeremey. He had nothing to do with what's happening.

Right now he's a friend that needs his friends(?) to be supportive of him as a person, not critical of him as a potential Journey frontman.

Yes, Sherrie. IF he gets the job, I will support the hell out of him. Because I have been amazed at the multiple hours of traveling he has devoted just to get in front of people and sing Journey's music for a few hours. And, IMO, he would blow people away.

AND I will support the HELL out of JSS.

And what the hell, throw the next Tall Stories CD in there, too.

I'm sorry, but I can't subscribe to this. I already told Jeremey I am happy for him, and he is not a target. However, this is the big leagues. This is supposed to be the bigtime. Journey isn't the big time, anylonger. This argument is about a couple things...

1) The decision to replace Jeff is theirs to make, but to lie and deceive and play singers against each other is bullshit.
2) There was NO reason given for Jeffs Firing. It wasn't amicable.
3) Jeremey needs to get smart right away, and stay the Hell off these boards
4) Jeremey did lie to me...I congratulated him, and he thanked me, and then asked me and others to support this new lineup. I immediately said to myself, "no way."

Here's what Jeremey had to say June 30th, 2006:

My post about Hugo was tongue in cheek, but it could be said for all other vocalists, JSS, KC, or me - Journey can't afford another lineup change. They are in the twilight of their career right now...There's no viability in the market for new Journey material, even if Perry sang on another CD, I can't imagine it being as successful as Trial By Fire. And they've toured incessantly for 8 years. So much so, that anyone who wants to see Journey has had multiple opportunities to do so. So if they brought in another vocalist, what would it be for - Another tour? Maybe some one-off corporate gigs? Would the band be that desparate for money that they would run the legacy of the band into the ground at the end of their careers? Gone from the MIGHTY JOURNEY to some Beach Boys equivalent floating lineup oddity popping up at Eastern Shore Lilac Festival or the Chattanooga Dinglefest? Gone would be the $100,000 paydays (if they aren't already), and Journey would become a hobbling Starship of a band peddling stale melodies and fried Snickers bars? Not my Journey, no way. Get this tour over with and sit back and count your money, Journey - You deserve it.

Having said this, I wish him the absolute best, and I hope when he starts to get knifed by Frig and Fro, he will walk off the stage in the middle of a show, leaving them to fend for themselves.

Wrong!
How can you say he had nothing to do with what's happening when you dont know for sure!?
He has known for over a month what is going on.
I am not upset about Jeremey becoming a singer of Journey, I could care less.
I'm upset cause he lied. I am upset that a great guy like him could become Neals little puppet at this early stage of his new career. If this is the begining of a new era, God help us!
I do wish him the best in his new band, but he wont see any of my money spent on their shows. I am not about to spend a dime more in old Journey songs.
I want new material and this new line up wont deliver any!
Sorry but to me Journey with Jeremey sounds more like Journey Tribute band with Neal involved !
