Recently we've had a really bad hangover. Something we like just hurt us pretty bad. Many of us have said, "I'll NEVER do that again" mainly because we still have the headache. Problem is we've been drinking for 30 years now and it's become quite the habit.
We've even sworn off the stuff before only to come back when the pain is gone and we have our strength back. For some people the hangover is so bad, that they have had that 'rock bottom' moment where they actually keep the promise to themselves about 'Never Again'.
But in the end for most its mainly just blowing smoke for now. The justification for coming back into the fold will begin. "Well it was hard liquor that did it, so I'll only drink beer now" (i.e. listen to Perry era on CD). Then it becomes "it was Jack Daniels, not ALL hard liquor, so I'll just stay away from that" (start listening to new material when the new singer is in the band). This moves us to "well I shouldn't have drank the Jack without eating first, that's what did it." (start attending concerts again). At that point, most us go "oh what the hell, must have been a convergence of planets or something" and start drinking like nothing ever happened.
At that point people will start posting about how so and so is the best singer Journey's ever had and that they can't wait until they record new music and that the band is so energized.....
But for now, live with the hangover and post about the pain until it goes away...
