I grew up with some knowledge of Journey, but I didn't start liking them until high school, when I had a job as a lifeguard and the synchro team at the pool practiced a Journey routine every day. I did some research on the band and that was that.

My dad used to have a cassette in the car which had Who's Cryin' Now on it, and I would listen to it on long journeys, being only 3 or 4 years old at the time I had no idea who it was, and neither did my parents, so I spent most of my life listening to that song without knowing what it was called or who sang it, until I dated a girl in high school back in 2000. Her dad had Greatest Hits, I asked if I could play it and sure enough Who's Cryin' Now came on and that was it, I was hooked, went out and bought a copy and wore it out :D
Fuck Journey.

I saw the band perform Patiently on The Midnight Special. That was it for me--and unbelievable performance.

Just before my 13th birthday, back in 1981, my brother's girlfriend thought it was terrible that my brother had never taken me to a concert. She thought I would like Journey, so they asked me if I wanted to go. A couple of my friends wanted to go too, but their parents wouldn't let them go with my brother. My dad (who hates rock music) said he would take us. About a week before the show, I bought Escape because I wanted to know at least some of the songs. I had a blast at the concert, even though my friends and I were with my dad. I was blown away by the music. I went on to blow most of my babysitting money for years to come on Journey albums and swag. I still remember buying Captured at KMart, and joining the fan club when it was run by someone named Inez. My mom wished that Journey sang in Spanish so I wouldn't be getting Ds in Spanish in high school.

I was 12 when 'Frontiers' came out...the videos (Separate Ways, Faithfully, After The Fall, Chain Reaction) were all over MTV & the songs were all over radio. 'Frontiers' (along w/ 'Pyromania') were the first 2 records I remember buying with my own money.

I was about 12 years old and my parents took me to a Journey show. We got backstage and I tripped over Neal.

It was 1983, I was 10 and visiting my cousin who had Escape and Frontiers on cassette and a Walkman. I asked if I could listen to them and I was hooked. As soon as I got home I bought both Escape and Frontiers. The rest is history.

I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I didn't get 'into' them, it was when I 'discovered' them. Basically I just got the greatest hits, listened, and liked.

I got INTO them July 30th, 2006 after seeing them live for the first time (while they were on tour with my favorite band) with a fucking brilliant singer named Jeff Scott Soto.

I too discovered them in 2001 when I saw Behing the Music. I thought :D to myself "so this is the band that has all these great songs on the radio". Perry's soaring voice was my main reason.

I immediately was into them...bought all the CDs, went to the concerts every year they had with SA, and saw JSS last year. The vibe at the concert last year was so much different from Augeri's concerts as JSS really took the stage and commanded it. His voice is so powerful.

The DVDs they have are always fun to watch. Especially the ones with Perry as I never had the chance to see him in concert.
