all are missed,, who won in this mess ?? i guess the manager. .. andrew is trying to
promote a concert and these cats do this..i hope steve a. and jss jamm it down
their throats..deano will speak again,, and jeremey will make some cash and be able leave
them and sing full time and write with barry in the future ... andrew will have a mess on his
hands because the venue is not large enough to hold the 10,000 fans that show up..

I couldn't care less who they get in as the new guy unless it's Perry. And that's never gonna happen, long term anyway. I enjoyed Journey with Augeri and I took a leap of faith with JSS who I think brought something contemporary, credible and fresh to the table. And he knew how to ROCK! Now, after 3 months away I come back to find out JSS has been kicked out and there's every chance the guys will be getting in a Steve Perry tribute singer. I never thought the time would come that I would walk away but but JSS was the last leap I was prepared to make.

Journey should head to the first available enormodome in Frisco and get Rolie, Perry (even for a couple of songs) et al up on stage one last time and lay this baby to rest. Journey made some great music over the years and I include "Arrival" in that but it's over. It is over.

Hey Frostbite - if you enjoyed Augeri then there's no reason why you couldn't enjoy the band with Jeremey too....if he gets the gig. In fact, from what I've heard Jeremey has the better voice of the two.

Firstly, Matthew, I love the userpic. All hail Stills!!!

You know, this new singer might sound exactly like Perry but I just don't care anymore. It's singer number 3 since Perry and for me personally, it's just knocked their credibility a touch too much. If they're going for a guy from a Journey tribute act this time then it's officially cabaret as far as I'm concerned. A tribute act. I just wish they'd a bit more dignity. I've hit the point others hit years ago. If Neal wants to make money playing this music, no problem. Just don't call it Journey. Cain's talking about how they want to sound like the 65 million units they sold? Then why did they make Soto permanent 6 months ago? They messed that guy around big time. Sorry guys. Without Perry I'm not interested anymore.

Hail Stills! lol

I don't see how picking a singer with a great voice who performs Journey for the love of the music in his spare time is a worse decision than a singer from a failed '90's band who was working at the Gap when hired. Nothing against Augeri, he was a great choice IMO. Just trying to understand your thought process.

Welcome, Frostbite. I've been at this point for years...but now I guess my righteous indignation has slowly burnt itself out now ...and I kind of think...if they put on another show near me I'll go and enjoy it....and try not to take it all too seriously.

Isn't this poll a question about who will be missed more on these forums and not who the next lead singer of Journey is going to be, or did I miss something?

Exactly!!! I don't see how anyone who supported Augeri can be taking this "they're nothing but a tribute band now" stance. What the hell is the difference between that and this? Image

I completely sympathize with the fans who came just recently became Journey fans because of Jeff and are now through with the band. They have no reason to stick around.

I can even respect the long time Journey fans who are boycotting them because of what they did to Jeff,(even though I don't see why that kind of behaviour from these guys should surprise them) but this "they're nothing but a tribute band now" thing just doesn't make any sense at all to me when we've all been here for 10 yrs of them being just that.

My point is hardly rocket science and I'm not looking for an argument. But what's not to get with my comment. With Augeri, they moved on and recorded new music. "Arrival" was a good Journey record and the band were moving on with new material. A further change of singer with JSS was hard to swallow but he was his own man and I went with it as it looked like the band were trying to move forward. This time, Cain has said that they had to get rid of JSS as they want to protect their legacy and sound like they do on the 65 million units they have sold. They have consciously decided to become a tribute band to their past. It's not my interpretation of the situation or a "thought process". It's what Cain said.

And how was he wandering off topic pointlessly with that asking about the original subject?

Augeri left in scandal and disgrace....won't be missed by me....

I realize the "won't be missed by me" part is opinion and we are all intitled to one. However, the "Left in scandal and disgrace" part is because of the actions of the guys he played with every night. The same ones you were all gushing over before they fucked over JSS too. Give Augeri a fucking break. None of you, including Deano will even know EXACTLY what went down with "tapegate"

For all you know he did NOT want to lip but the money lost on defending himself in lawsuits would have bankrupted him, his family and every cent he made while with the band. Not a likely scenario? Then you aren't as smart as you think, especially considering what we now know about those 2 jerkoffs JC and NS.

I've never said Augeri was solely responsible. But rightly or wrongly he left the band in scandal and disgrace. That's what happened. Sorry that upsets you so much.

It's not that it upsets me so much. You think what happened is fair? They made one guy look like an ass so they could all come out smelling like roses. Too bad the toilet clogged up again in less than a year.

Oh and do you need some ointment for your eyes there pal?

No they didn't. They protected his reputation by issuing a press release saying he had "a chronic throat infection".

I'm not trying to be a jerkoff Matt, I'm really not. But which is it? You said Augeri left with his rep intact or and I quote you "rightly or wrongly he left the band in scandal and disgrace. That's what happened. Sorry that upsets you so much."

So which is it?

No, that's a fair point. I should have said they "tried" to protect his reputation. And who knows? Maybe it worked? Maybe his reputation in the largely indifferent industry out there is just fine. Amongst the die-hard online fan base though it was undeniably a scandal...not that that matters to anyone except us.
