Nice find,Brad. This is one of the best filmed Journey shows.
Although the energy level is not as high as on the Houston concert,I would sure LOVE to see this one on a DVD with a "new" sound to it!
Japan '79 DVD-CD... 8) That would be royal.

What a weird audience. But then,I don't think I've seen a Journey clip yet where the Japanese were anything but politely clapping and gently screaming.

I noticed that too about the energy level of the Japanese fans, I wonder if that is a cultural thing for them. MAYBE the Japanese fans see it as rude or something to do what we USA fans do here, jumping up & down, Screaming, and all that kind of stuff. Just a thought!

I don't know about that now, I was watching the Live Earth concert last night, and the Japanese fans were ROCKING. Not only were they jumping up and down, they were doing it in unison. It was cool to watch.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Really,Rick? I missed that, would have been interesting to see.
Maybe the new Japanese generation of concert goers is different,or maybe the system is different.
I guess the '60s and the '70s were not too nice in Japan,at least because audiences had to behave in a certain way.
Looks like the Budokan had strict rules. The Beatles had an awful experience there...

"The Japanese audience was instructed not to stand up during the show, and an overwhelming police presence meant that the audience was happy to listen intently to the music and give polite applause at the end of each song."

Yea the audio sounds "off-the-board."

Very good for a boot video.

Not a boot video.Different filming angles (at least 4-5 steadycams were set up,plus there was a guy on stage moving around with a TV camera).
Television mixing also,I guess it was broadcasted in Japan at the time.

I was going to say the same thing. Not only the different camera angles, but such high quality on video and audio in a boot I doubt would be possible in '79.

When I see and hear how good this stuff is, it boggles my mind how the journey "corporate machine" has of yet been too stupid to make any money off of this! Well, too late now, we can all juswt watch it for free, thank you very much!

Sure, free things are good  ,but just imagine how much better would this whole footage be if Mr.Perry would lock himself with the tapes (and Allan Sides) in a studio and polish this gem just like he did with the Houston show!

Well,hope dies last.
