Best rock vocal performance of all time.

Yes I am biased however as a musician I think that I can take in everything I have heard and be objective. After watching the Escape Dvd on my NEW Harmon Kardon/Bose setup in 5.1 I have to say that Mother Father from the Escape DVD is the the most fucking soulfull, fucking ungodly powerfull, fucking pitch perfect live vocal performance out of everything I have ever heard before. You can say a lot of things about Journey when they are compared to thier contemporaries however above all else as a vocal band with the empashis on harmonies between the singing members there isnt one better. The Eagles may equal them on the harmonies however Perry's ungodly fucking true crystaline tenor adds the perfect filet migon to an already satisfying musical meal.

I think I am becoming a loon. Funny thing is that I have known about Journey since Escape was big and even though I though they were cool tunes its just recently that Journey's music has revealed that it is timeless. In my mind that puts them in the same league as the Beatles, Pink Floyd etc because 20+ years after the release of their best material is it revealed that it has only grown better with age. Cant say that about any of their peers from the same time period can you ?

Despite what happens with the whole singer thing remember that these guys have written some of the most endearing, timeless tunes in rock n roll. Hate Fro and Geeky Anal fairy piano dude all you want for the recent bullshit but the fact cannot be denied that they were directly responsible for this acheivment.

I like your last line! LOL!!! I agree with you on how great they are. It amazes me that they haven't been inducted in to the Rock and roll hall of fame. I've read that it's all political, but how the hell can they justify some of the bands they've inducted, yet neglect Journey who's put out so many millions of albums??? Pisses me off!!!

They ARE timeless as well! I'll go weeks or months sometimes without listening to Journey (Don't shoot me down!!!), but everytime I bust out a track, it's like it's fresh and new. I have to admit though, that while I was playing with Frontiers, some of the songs started sounding repetitive! I had to listen to them a lot while I was rehearsing for the gigs, and I honestly thought I might get burned out on Journey at one point! I have to add though, that every time I played the stuff live, that feeling went away and it was just an amazing experience!!! Those songs are a keyboardist's dream to play!

Sorry, I started rambling there...just had a flashback! And NO, I'm not stoned! Won't be able to do that 'till I retire at 43 years old. Got a few more years to go!

Hmmmm.....I don't know. I often get bored of listening to Journey. After awhile it wears on me. Then I have to get into another 'kick'.

I can't listen to anything for too long.....INcluding Journey.
