What about Freddie Mercury?? He never needed a gimmick to captive a crowd. Great musical ability, the ultimate showman, best frontman ever, need I say more?

He was disqualified for taking it in the ass. Sorry.

You're wrong here SJ. He was a complete hedonist off stage, but once he stepped on stage. He was the best front man ever!!!

Really....well I guess that leaves out Elton, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, hell, there's too many to count. I could give two shits about someone's private life. Most people don't care that Freddie was gay. It's sad and pathetic that you do.

So what if they do?? With all of the musical gifts that Queen and Freddie have given us over the years, I just think it's odd that that's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of them. What a shame.

I just lost ALL respect for u again SJ. For good this time I'm afraid. That is nothing short of sacrelige. The poor guy was killed by some sick crazy stalker & u say he was done a favor? Disgusting. If it happened to one of ur family, I doubt u would say the same thing.

If ANY member of my family was a drugged up, solitary weirdo I would be completely indifferent to their fate as it is outside of my hands. However, since you brought it up what are your thoughts on him performing at anti-American rallies, wearing a "Chairman Mao badge" and giving the violent Students for Democratic Society (SDS) $5,000, hoping it would assist those who were being sought by police for bombings.

Then there is this:

LENNON’S VIOLENCE AND LACK OF LOVE. The man who sang about love (“all you need is love”) and peace (“give peace a chance”) was actually very noncompassionate, self-centered to the extreme, and violent. His biographers speak of “the infamous Lennon temper.” He frequently flew into rages, screaming, smashing things, hitting people. He admitted, “I was a hitter. I couldn’t express myself and I hit. I fought men and I beat women.”

Fuck this guy. He was a scumbag.

I'll translate for u.

Raider - Queen did nothing in the US until that car scene w/the stupid dudes. That's what Saint John should have said. Because it's not significant to be discussed in this thread, Saint John got sidetracked.

Got it now? (I don't even tho I think I translated it correctly :-))

Thanks JR :D But he'd (SJ or Styxman? I'm confused) be wrong. Bohemian was a huge hit when it was first released, and queen remained huge through the Works CD in 84.

Do u usually believe religious propaganda made up about people? Sheesh. Why didn't u tell us about him taking it up the ass too? Or did u selectively decide not to believe that part? I love the way u completely leave out Lennon's childhood & the problems he had. U also manage to ignore his last 5 years when he finally got over his drug addictions. There are other people here who have been drug addicts. Do u hate them too? U love Perry. Did u know he's got a temper?

Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, especially Bob. Has made some beautiful, beautiful music during the last 7 or 8 years. Nobody better, I think.

freddie mercury had a great voice, his range and clarity were perfect, it matters not that he was gay, you should not judge a book by it's cover...it's what is inside that counts and with Freddie it was an amazing vocal talent which will survive for generations to come.

regarding John Lennon, I think when people make it through hardships and get to where he got to, where he came from, they deserve some respect and merit, he was not a weirdo, and he lived through the psychedelic age, which was drugs based....as did Dylan, Hendrix, Joplin, The Rolling Stones..the list goes on....you cannot take his creativity away from him, he was a creative man. Like many others he viewed the world through unconventional eyes at times...heck even I do that sometimes but it does not make anyone a weirdo, I would say it makes them individual and alternative in their approach.

In his last interview on BBC radio within days of his death, he was telling the presenter how he had never been happier and was loving life.

I am also a firm believer that you should never speak ill of the dead, because they cannot defend themselves.

this is just my belief, and my view.

I don't think Bob Dylan was too much a part of that psychedelic age--he had a motorcyle crash that caused him to be a recluse for several years. He pretty much did and has always done his own thing. That's why I so LOVE this guy! Talk about an enigma--a dark, brooding, smoldering, curly-haired, blue-eyed enigma; hmmm, hmmmm, hmmmm. :)
