Bad news from the Houston Rockets

HOUSTON -- Basketball always came easily to Eddie Griffin. It was life off the court that he had trouble handling.

The former Houston Rockets forward died last week when his sport utility vehicle collided with a freight train in a fiery crash, the Harris County medical examiner's office said Tuesday.

"The organization is devastated and saddened by this terrible tragedy," said a spokesperson for the Houston Rockets in a written statement. "Our thoughts go out to Eddie's family and friends during this difficult time."
