OT? has anyone watched "Running Down a Dream"?

Postby ohsosoto » Mon Nov 05, 2007 11:15 am

i recently purchased tom petty and the heartbreakers, running down a dream. I could watch that over and over. he has such talent and passion for music. It's too bad not all band can stick together like that for 30 years and still put out great music. there are some bands out there that should take some notes from Tom and the heartbreakers!!!

Sounds like a well rounded tour schedule for you. You get a little of everything. You can always PM if you don't want everyone to know.

tom petty and the heartbreakers- "Running down a dream" it just came out last week. it's a film directed by Peter Bogdanovich tracking tp and heartbreakers for the past 30 years. has footage from his highschool band up until now. toms ability to write music is legendary! and yes, i appreciate tom more than journey. prolly the wrong place to state this opinion.

yes, you are correct. but his backup plan works well for him. it didn't keep him down! he talks about howie and his house burning down in the film. it's a 4 disc set and is only available at best buy. shit, can i get some money for that plug?

one of the most interesting is his take on his ability to write lyrics. he says he doesn't know where it comes from, he just writes. he states that he is afraid to really figure it out, because it just might stop. oh yea, great take on todays country music. can't remember the details at this time, but i LMFAO!!! :D

Tom Petty is one of the greatest artists that ever lived and he just keeps getting better! All of his songs are brilliant! He's the one that got me into classic rock in the first place.

I have a high quality bootleg DVD of the entire Live From Gainesville concert and that is excellent. When I get some money though I’m going to purchase the 4 disc set because the amount of extras is unreal.

By the way, the documentary is playing on the Sundance channel this month, if you have it. I watched the first half, and DVR'd the rest for future viewing. My favorite part so far has been Eddie Vedder singing The Waiting on stage with the Heartbreakers. Just a totally different sound to the song.

I've always admired Petty for standing up to his record company and management. He went through more crap than a lot of artists, but always came out on top.

Why isn't Woman in Love on it? That's my favorite TP song (except for Stop Draggin'...). It's hard to find a live version of that tune anywhere.
