What do you think?

They had SA for 8 years and recorded 2 albums, the last of which was done kicking and screaming.

I heard through a friend that Journey is booked to play their corporate gig in the Spring in the US... WITH ARNEL.

It wasn't Steve that was kicking and screaming...
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Could the Chile concert be a test in front of a live crowd for Arnel? Far enough away that VERY few US fans would make a trip to see them there.

THey can play with Arnel, see what the crowd reaction is like and decide from there. Sort of like movie studios screen pictures before release, then if the audience doesn't like it, goes back and changes it before the real release.

Just a thought.

Given their track record, maybe they've already fired him, but just haven't told him yet....

Any idea when the "official" announcement will be made? I'll give 'Arnie' the benefit of the doubt because the guy can sing. And, this has to be a once-in-a-lifetime move for him. I just won't support the group any more. But, if he can make it work, good for him.

That's about as positive as I can be about it.

Nothing that has happened before is Arnel's fault. I saw the You Tube videos and the guy has a voice. Despite the fact I will never see him sing, I wish him luck. And I've come a looong way in being able to say that.

No negativity from me, but no cheerleading, either!

Do you have something to say that you cannot say because of limitations brought forth by the Journey camp? What gives? Either Journey sucks or Journey doesn't suck, Andrew. Don't fake it. Be yourself again.

I'm sure Andrew isn't limited by anyone. But you have to understand, this is his bread and butter. If something happens on here that affects his livelihood, he's got to make that problem go away. This board has developed a really bad reputation for being racist and riddled with bullies. That's not good for anyone.

WTF?

Limitations?? I haven't heard from anyone in the Journey camp in several months. This post is amongst the most ill-concieved and stupid that I have seen in many many months.

Are you not sick of the negativity here? Am I not allowed to report on Journey news should there be any?

Give me a break!

Thanks, Andrew... Nice to see some positivity around here, even if it is coming from you regarding the "New Journey!" Stay positive.. However, and as you know, all we all have left are the great memories of days gone by. I'm not into speed-dial re-inactments of yesterdays shows anymore. Been there, done that, mate.

That's about all these guys can hope for in 2008 - corporate gigs, casinos, and county fairs.

I think they should name the new Journey album "Imitador" (Spanish for "impersonator".)

I don't think so.

this is the same gig that they cancelled at the last minute in 2006.

they probably had to guarantee it by 2008 or return the funds.

Actually this would be a good reason to bring in another "temp" - meet the contractural obligations of this and a couple of corporate gigs - (keep the coffers full)

possibly extend the "temp's" employement through some Euro dates ....... then back in the ole U.S. of A hit the ground running for a summer tour with as yet unannounced vocalist(s)

(and no I am not saying Perry is returning ........ so go outside and play)

And yet Jeff Soto is on record stating that by their first break from the road, him and Neal already had 20 rough Journey songs kicking around. Whatever Neal's vision for Journey is, songwriting chemistry obviously is not an integral factor. Which is a damn shame. I know I would prioritize getting a singer with which I share genuine creative synergy, over someone who simply hits the high notes. And by all accounts, Soto nailed those high notes just fine.

If Schon soured on Augeri he has no one to blame but himself.

And if tapegate was his way of "fixing things" then he's a piece of shit.
