Yep, the worst.

Never has a bunch been more insufferably pompous and obnoxious in their teams' successes than the Bosox and Belicheat fans.

Not sure about Celts and Bruins fans, lot of good tradition there w/out the superiority complex of the aforementioned baseball and football fans.

More sour grapes. I guess that's what happens when you live in a city that hasn't sniffed a championship in ANY sport in almost 25 years!!!!! Hell, the Celtics have been irrelevant FOREVER, and even they've won a championship more recently than one single team in the entire city! As for the Bruins "tradition"...you clearly know NOTHING about Boston sports, because along with all the other dopey things you've said, the Bruins are one of the worst run franchises in all of professional sports and haven't won a championship is THIRTY FIVE YEARS!!!!!!! Also, for the record, we really could care less what you or anyone else thinks of Boston teams, or their fans. We really don't need other cities pulling for our teams. You, and the entire country to call us every adjective under the sun, and we'll embrace every nasty insult, as long as we keep winning! Maybe Ryan Howard won't have 200 strikeouts next season (and that was even with missing 6 weeks of the season), and the Phillies might win a playoff game! You can always dream!

Sorry JoePa...In spite of all of our going back and forth, I know you're a good dude. I just can't stomach all the whining about the Patriots. As I said...as a kid, back in the late 70's and early 80's, it was VERY embarrassing to be a New England Patriots fan. In fact, it's somewhat ironic that back in those days, the Patriots and Colts (who were still in Baltimore) were battling it out for which team and franchise sucked the most! The Patriots finally put together a winning organization, and I'm going to enjoy every last second of it, because I know eventually it will come to a screeching halt, as it always does in sports!

Hah!! The list of American and National League "Managers of the Year" winners that Francona has beaten the crap out of since coming to Boston just got longer in 2007!!! Mike Scioscia, Joe Torre, Tony LaRusa, and you can probably add Wedge and Hurdle to the list as they will probably take the awards this year. All these guys were haled as the second coming of J.C. and Francona was supposed to be a bum. HAH! They all got the awards but Francona got the rings!! Two out of four World Championsips...not bad for a "fraud". I love it!

Enigma's a TRUE Boston fan and those of us here who know him appreciate him for that, even if it has to come w/ a little cockiness. :)

The thing is, though, people like Moose and myself see CBP in S Philly invaded on Boston weekend by "Red Sox Fans" who sit behind us in Sox gear going to the guy next to them, "wait, who's 'our' second baseman again?" and those kind of fans out number the REAL fans like Enigma who actually suffered through no WS wins since 1918 like 4-1 when they invade other stadiums.

Well, the Pats went to the Super Bowl in '84. So they got plowed by the Bears? Big deal. It wasn't like the entire decade was a waste.

I actually kinda liked those teams with Steve Grogan and, of course, the year they went to the big game, Tony Eason was the starting QB and he had a pretty good year. Irving Fryar was on that team, too. One of my all-time favorite receivers.

They knocked my Raiders out of the playoffs that year without the "tuck rule". Props to them. Even though the Raiders would have given the Bears a good game in SB20. :D

You should brush up on your Patriots history. The Patriots played in the 1986 Super Bowl (from the 1985 season). They went 2-14 in 1981 and 1-15 in 1982! That's putrid by anyone's measure! As for Grogan...Grogan was a very tough player and very underrated. As for Eason...He SUCKED! John Hannah said it best when he said Eason should be wearing a skirt! As for Irving Fryar...He had a VERY disappointing career. I believe he is one of only two receivers, EVER, taken as the number one overall pick. By that measure, he had a VERY average career. Also, Irving Fryar was more of a knucklehead when he played for the Patriots. I remember that he actually left Schaeffer Stadium (what it was called before Foxboro Stadium) before a Patriots game was even over, (he bailed at halftime, because of a disagreement with the coach...yes, this shit really happened back then), back in the early 80's, and actually got into a car accident on the way home. Then later that night, he was arrested for a knife fight with his wife! Ahhhhh....Those were the days! That's why the fact that people actually think we need to apologize because we have a good team now is beyond laughable to me!!!!!!

I can tell you this...As a Patriots fan, I'd much rather hear stories about Belichick stealing coaches signs than some moron player stabbing his wife, and winning 1 game a season! I was far more embarrassed by that than I ever was about the gamemanship that has been going on in football, since they wore leather helmets!!!!! Because I grew up playing football, I know for a fact that every coach I've ever played for has attempted to pick up the other teams defensive signals, even though they didn't have the videotape technology back then. This thing has gotten so blown out of proportion that common sense has gone completely out the window. Now I have to listen to that moron, Don Schula saying the Patriots have an asterisk if they go undefeated. HUH????? Even if I believe the videotaping allegation (and for the record, I do), it happened in one half of the very first game of the season against a DREADFUL Jets team! How the hell does that taint the entire season???? The answer is...It doesn't. Everyone just hates the Patriots because Belichick is arrogant, and thinks he's smarter than everyone else (and has made a pretty compelling case, that he actually is)!

Oh well...This happens with ALL teams who are successful. The first season the Patriots won the Super Bowl, the entire country (except St. Louis) was rooting for them, because they were the "new" team, fairly limited in the talent department, and 14 point underdogs! Now, three Lombardi trophies later, with the most powerful offense ever assembled, it's only natural that if you're not from Boston, you're going to hate this team! As I said, all successful teams deal with it. The Yankees have a ton of haters across the country, and so do the Cowboys, and the Celtics did, when they were winning their titles. I suspect most Patriots fans are actually amused that everyone hates the Patriots now. I listen to the sports talk shows all day long, and laugh my ass off at how much this team is despised. As a fan, we Patriots fans know this...There has NEVER EVER been a team in ANY sport who thrive more on everyone hating them and disrespecting them, than the Patriots do! They live for this shit! I truly believe that if the whole "Spygate" thing hadn't happened, this team probably wouldn't be undefeated, at this point. This team plays FAR better with a chip on their shoulder. As soon as I heard LT run his mouth the week they played the Chargers (I believe his exact quote was that the Patriots live by the motto that if they're not cheating, they're not trying), I knew the Pats would steamroll the Chargers. Then when I heard that buffoon Philips run his mouth the Dallas week, I knew the Cowboys were toast. Now all we have to do is get ready for the next Jets game, and see what happens to Mangini, after the whole "Spygate" episode. You guys haven't seen "running up the score", until you watch that game! As that moron T.O. said..."Get your popcorn ready"!!!!!

I'm not a Patriots fan and was just guessing '84 was the year the Bears won it all. Big deal.

Eason's career numbers were better than Grogan's, at least as far as averages. His completion percentage was MUCH better than Grogan's and his touchdown to interception ratio was also much better.

As for Irving Fryar...He had a VERY disappointing career.

Disappointing? Top 10 all time in receptions and receiving yards and 13th in touchdowns. That's a pretty rough descriptionof a career that put hiim in the top 10 ALL TIME.

I should have mentioned that Irving Fryar's career, with the Patriots was disappointing. The guy was a COMPLETE ASS, when he played for the Patriots, and has admitted so publically, over the years. He got his life together, after he left the Patriots (I believe he found religion). He had a couple of good seasons with The Eagles and Dolphins. I can tell you this...In spite of ranking in the top 10 of some receiving categories, he isn't getting into the hall of fame! If Art Monk isn't there (and he should be), Fryar has no shot!

As for Tony Eason...I saw EVERY game of his entire career, and the guy was AWFUL. He had one single season (1984) where he had more than 20 touchdowns. Nothing overly impressive about that. Grogan was a MUCH better player than Eason ever was, on his best day! I believe that in spite of all the publicity guys like Randall Cunningham and Mike Vick got for being running QB's that Steve Grogan still holds the NFL record for most rushing TD's by a QB in one season! I think Eason has the record for being the only QB who was hated by EVERY one of his teammates! Drew Bledsoe had FAR better numbers than Eason could ever dream of, and Bledsoe was every bit as DREADFUL! I could care less what the numbers say...I know what my eyes tell me, when I watch a guy's career! The numbers say Emmitt Smith is the best running back, ever. My eyes tell me that NOBODY was even close to Barry Sanders!

I understand having the confidence in your team and being proud of them. But, there is a fine line between being confident in your team and being so cocky that it becomes uncool. I mean, it's not soup grapes, it's just making yourself look as classless as your head coach, and I know you're not that classless. But, I do suppose it is pint up frustation from those decades where the Patriots were the laughing stock of the NFL. I remember being gleefully happy to see the Patriots on our schedule when the Redskins were an elite team. I always could count on that being an easy win, and it pretty much was every time we played you guys. And, I remember when the Patriots won their first Super Bowl. I was happy for them, because St. Louis had already won their Super Bowl, and nobody else cared to see them win it all again. And, you can't expect the whole country to want to be behind the Patriots this year either. We just don't really care. We don't care about learning the Patriots' history or how explosive their offense is. Heck, if the Redskins don't make it to the Super Bowl, I'd love to see two surprise teams make it. Maybe the Saints against the Browns.

I have to agree the guy was a big bust when you consider how highly he was thought of coming out of Illinois.

Pure running back? Absolutely. Barry couldn't block or catch the ball out of the backfield. He would come to camp late every year rather than work on those shortcomings. All around leans towards "sweetness" maybe even LT.

Great call on Jeff George! Sadly though, I think Jeff George had a far better arm than Eason had. I mean think about it...John Hannah (one of the most respected linemen in NFL history, and the only Patriot in the HOF) says a guy he blocked for should wear a skirt! YIKES! That's as harsh as harsh gets!

As far as the running back argument...I think what has ALWAYS separated Barry from all of the other great running backs is that Barry played on AWFUL teams, year, after year, after year, which ultimately led to him retiring FAR before his time! And yes...I am referring to a pure runner, in terms of being the greatest running back, ever!

Emmitt Smith ran behind offensive lines that you could have driven a truck through. Even though I always thought Emmitt was a very good player, I honestly believe most running backs could have put up the same numbers, behind that line. I'm also a huge Walter Payton fan (another man taken from this earth, FAR too soon), but I don't think Payton was quite the back Sanders was. As far as LT is concerned...I thought it was completely ABSURD when I heard Schottenheimer saying he was the best back ever. Tomlinson is a very good back, but I'm not ready to say he's the best ever, at this point. I can tell you this...He's not even the best running back in the NFL, this season! Adrian Petersen (a rookie) is making LT look like yesterday's news! I watched Barry Sanders run behind offensive lines that most guys wouldn't have gained 200 yards behind (in a season), and for my money, he's the best ever!

No kidding. When he played for the Raiders (4-12 season) Oakland had a miserable defense. I made a point to try to catch every offensive series cuz I loved watching him throw the ball. Don't know if it was Indy or Atlanta, but I remember hearing that sometimes his left guard would intentionally whif on a block so they could get a free blindside shot at him. Not good.

The same can be said about Peyton also. Until his last few years in the league. Barry did have more than his share of highlight reel runs in his short time.

Please don't mention Jeff George!

I still have nightmares of him playing for us. I'll admit though. The guy had an arm, but right at last, he was over throwing everybody by 20 yards.
