Here's my vehicle the day I bought it home. The next day, the stock stereo was ousted in favor of a nicer sounding system

Image

For my summer ride, and it's NOT even my car.... a 1979 Trans Am. It was all stock until my friend Jason got a bug up his ass. So... since he had the wallet, and I had the knowledge, we planned the recreation of this screaming chicken. The "stock" drivetrain was pulled and redone to accomodate a heavier foot.

Stock, this was a 185hp 403 Olds engine with a th350 tranny and a 241 geared rear end.

So...

The 403 was stripped, and added was new EVERYTHING. 1969 Olds 350 Rocket heads, Comp cam, Edelbrock Intake, rebuilt Holley Quadrajet, Hooker Headers and Accel super coil. The TH350 was ixnayed in favor of a 700R4 overdrive and the 241 rear end was chucked in favor of a 373 posi unit  She goes like a MoFo now! Since I did all the organizing and the stereo installation, I'm basically allowed to heist this any time I want. The engine was Dyno'd and now puts out 388HP at the flywheel and 445lbs of Torque. 8)

Here's the pic of the day he bought it:

You have something to be proud of there..way awesome automobile. Love the burl wood dash AND the 'no smoking' sticker.

You're right, it's the SLC (an old one of course) that I would love to see underneath my tree this Christmas. Maybe a 280 white convertible with wooden dash and steering wheel. Off to write my letter to Santa.....

Thanks,
Guess the original owner hated smoke as much as I do!

Good Luck w Santa...
but be warned an older car can be a handful...
I've been getting a grease tour
fixed some vacumn lines
power steering had a small leak at clamp I tightened it
so far thats holding.

Going to attempt ignition wires, dis cap & rotor as well as more replacements of old vscumn lines..

An engine only a mother could love...
