- Just got back from Vegas last night, after mixing seven new Journey songs. They are outstanding. Here's the press release below. For the record, I think Arnel is "the business!" the guy can really sing! He handles the ballads with SO much heart, and belts the rockers as hard, and melodically, as anyone I have heard. The songs are sensational - wonderfully crafted and deep, and so focused, you may wonder where they all came from. And I'm being serious....... off to the airport again.... to London to see Zep. -

Thanks for the post.

What does he mean by "you may wonder where they all came from. And I'm being serious"?

Is he implying something there? Like Perry had a hand in it? Or the songs have been around since Perry and NOW they can use them?

Things that make you go hmmm.

It's a coded message:

Shirley? He can't be serious.

Of course he's serious, and stop calling him Shirley!
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

"You may wonder where they came from" cold refer to how quick these songs seemed to come about.

That's my take. That, and it might mean that there's something about them (lyrically, musically, etc.) that doesn't necessarily make you think "Journey" right away.

It's gonna sound like Journey... whether or not it will be any good? We will see and hear soon enough.

Why hire a SP sound alike and then change direction???

That would be funny. But it could be along the lines of One More...definately Journey but a lyrical content not usually associated with the band.

I fucking love One More and would shit myself in delight if they did more songs in that vein.

Yep, that makes sense. They haven't had AP very long so if the tracks are THAT good, it would be surprising.

Maybe they were old Journey remnants (from Perry writing sessions) that were just now finished and recorded.
KS did say something about it being "1980" and "making history". Of course, he could have been just talking about redoing the classics. I mean, seriously, how can they do seven new songs in just a week? Speaking of 'new'...that could simply be a reference to 'new' recordings, or since old songs are being redone, the band is considering today's versions 'new songs'.
???

Who cares anyways? Even if it is old product wrapped in new material.. It's not going to make it anywhere, anyway. Journey is done.

They were in the studio longer than a week. I think he had been talking about it for at least a month.
