Why do Audi's get you so worked up? You need to switch to a hotter pic of what's her name. That one's just not doing it for me.

S&TB2 is great...not untouchable like the first.

S&TB3, however...is fucking awful!

As far as worst sequel in history, there's plenty of them. 2 immediately come to mind:

The Second Arrival
Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation

And pretty much every single Iron Eagle sequel ever made

Cool Trans Am/Firebird video

http://www.fquick.com/videos/The_Trans_ ... rvels/3127

The 6.6 Pontiac 400 was a far better engine than the 6.6 403 Olds engine was when they are compared stock. The 403 was a low compression "Corporate" engine built from 77-79. Somehow they ended up in the Trans Am's  They were 8 to 1 compression and 185hp, but they had shitloads of torque, but could not go much past 5000 rpms. They were connected to TH350 automatics with 2.41 gears out back. Decent gas milage, but poor performance.

My friend Jason and I just got his done last summer FINALLY! The engine had to be rebuilt AFTER it had been already rebuilt, thanks to a shit-for-brains mechanic. Now the engine, a 403 Olds, dyno'd at 388hp at the flywheel and 445lbs of torque at 4500rpm  It has a 700R4 Automatic with 3.73 gears out back. She's pretty damn quick.

This thread is probably the gayest of all time, but it is turning into a classic nonetheless.

Sorry dude..your Old is not hitting 160.. What happened is you changed the gears from 3:23's to about 3:73's and your speedo was about 20-30 miles an hour off..Trust me ,I've done it myself.. My Trans am has 2:73 highway gears..Grrr.. I might put 3:42's in..not sure yet..Its still faster than hell..Mine would do 160..Yours isn't aero dynamic enough to do it..The wind would hit it like a brick wall..My 86 corvette convertible Indianapolis 500 edition pace car hit 156.. Still had more..My brothers 2000 Vette with the 6 spd should do 180.. Horsepower means nothing if you don't have the aero dynamics to back it up..

Very good post, however, horsepower means everything. I once had a train with 32,000 HP in 8 locomotives and we pulled 196 cars at 55 mph, on a .5% grade. Trust me dude, HP is everything! But you're right too, because on another trip, I had 24,000 HP and 60 cars of grain and went from 50mph to barely 30 when the fucking wind in the Columbia river gorge hit us. I had her full out, just to do 30!

I have been in the industry for 18 yrs.. Hp means everything when its set up right.. If you have a 69 chevelle with a 427 big block with 505 horsepower and 4:11 gears..guess what.. top end 115.. IF you had 2:73's potentially you could hit 160,but the car isn't aerodynamic enough and its way too damn heavy.. The chevelle would take my 99 Trans am til we hit about 120,then my TA would pull away.. My car would have the top end because of the 2:73's..Its like a bicycle with a big sprocket compared to one with a small sprocket..

Hey J69, I don't know the exacts on what was in the car but here's a little more info. The guy that modified it put what he called an "RV" gear kit or transmission in it. It had both low end torque that could burn out and really high end speed.

It was automatic and the shifting happened later than a normal '79 T/A. It may have had an extra gear at the top end. For reference, here's a clip with a closeup of a '79 speedo, I had the needle all the way around back past the zero at top speed. Since its not marked I was guessing 160 but maybe 140-150.

Your speedo is way off..If you put in a new transmission or gears, depending on what you got, your speedo is going to be off..if you went from 3:23's to 3:73's your speedo could have been 30 miles per hour off..When they put the 73's in for the 23's,you instantly lose top end..It will be able to smoke the tires and your top end will be around 120 or a little more..Remember that car is a tank..Not like the newer ones.. If they beefed up the motor it could go faster..but you always have a trade of when you swap gears...The aerodynamics of the car are ok,but the front still gets serious wind drag..The newer trans am's like 84 and up have very good aerodynamics..The top end on my 99 TA is around 160..But,I have 2:73 gears..If I had 3:73's..It would be closer to 135 and my speedo would be way off..It would probably read 170 when I'm doing 135.. I'm thinking about putting 3:73's or 3:42's in my car..Who's going to go 160 in the US..A bank robber..? I hope this clears it up for you more..Your car is not doing 160,impossible with that car..Unless you have 2:73's or a rocket strapped to the back ..It just won't happen.. 79 Trans am's,even with that big 403 didn't have big hp..my 350 in my 99 TA has more..

I had my 79 Camaro to 165mph on hwy 52 on the way to Rochester Minnesota one time  The engine was a built 327 and I had the 2.73's out back. Oddly enough, the car was "ok" 0-40mph, even with the highway geared rear end, but around 40, the engines RPM band kicked in with the stall converter and from 40-100 she MOVED! 8)

Yes... 165mph is scary, especially when you realize that your tires are speed rated at 130mph
