Bear in mind that I am not a guitarist, but I don't think that Lukather is a superior guitarist and I believe Neal is better than Lifeson. Especially when it comes to the melody to the solos. I love Rush (my favorite is "Limelight"), but I think Alex's solos are completely shitty when it comes to the passion and stuff. He's a lot like Josh Ramos for the storm; all technical skills and no passion (in my opinion). Neal has both.

lukather is different for sure,, lots of people get him immediatley.. they will say ,"i hate toto, but love luke"..he has a strange quality about his playing like michael landau,,both of these guys are regarded highly in the music community,, i once fell asleep during a landau show.. but he was great.. if that makes any sense..

 This had me going :D .

I got strung up once by loondom for remarking on the weirdness of that moment but come on.

Hasn't Carlitto titled that move "the Perry spin" or something. For some reason I remember him posting something about it a while back.

Deb, I don't think they're referring to the spin. They are talking about the sequence after 3 minutes into the song where he falls back, hair flying and arms flapping. Steve just got very animated going for the soaring vocals in his reach toward the ending of the song. That's our emotive SP  .

Damn! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP_XApLJXzY

Keep forgetting what a classy video that is! Probably some of Wayne Isham's best work and he's done some great videos. Heck, SP's just feeling the song (emoting), either that or trying to get more air in them lungs for those soaring vocals. :D

Great video. SP did look a little weird at the one part, but I am sure he was doing what Deb said - reaching for those soaring vocals. They (the whole group) was all over that song. I really wish they'd won the Grammy.
