I know guy's, it is a mystery, why this guy isn't with Journey anymore. I was watching him on Youtube, but the fact of the matter is - you won't get a better showman or singer than this guy, he's the complete package.

The confidence he has on stage, he just owns it, and his delivery and pronunciation is far better than any new singer Journey will hire, far far better. He looks more appealing as well.

What happend? seriously I need a real answer... from an expert in this field

Look, well never get to the bottom of it.

But Im starting to wonder does it really matter? There are numerous reasons why JSS fans can be happy-

1)Jeff's new album will be out soon - we know it will be great. We dont have to worry if there will be a mismatch of ballads and rockers and we dont have to sit here and say it "better be great or else"

2)We can still see Jeff in concert - you can get ten times more involved in an intimate crowd, and -to steal one of the first phrase that I learned when I moved to England - Jeff Scott Soto concerts are the absolute dogs bollocks!"

3) You dont have to listen to the same old 12 songs played in the same old way at a JSS concert.

4)A JSS concert costs 40 $ instead of 90$

5) At this moment I'd rather watch Howie Simon and Gary S do thier stuff on the guitar and the base as opposed to watching Neal and Ross, seen them enough times already.

6) WHilst, I dont really care what the musicians I listen to are like personally (for all I care they can be a bunch of asses as long as it sounds good) its kind of nice to know that they guy you are supporting a class act which is what you get supporting Jeff.

Stuff what happened, theres plenty to enjoy in 08. If you really have an urge to listen to good Journey material dig out your CD 's of Rollie and Perry singing and forget whats happened the past few years.

Long story. It is what it is. But I agree....Jeff's a long time friend and I seriously rate him as one of the best frontmen I have ever seen live...EVER. That's all bands, all sized venues, all styles of music.
Buddy or not - my rating would be the same. Simply phenomenal and exhausting to watch!

Our 2 weeks on the road in Oz in 2004 will be something I never forget. Book material that!

Wrong for Journey, right for JSS! He is a GREAT front man, but I'm glad Journey went with a different singer. No dis-repsect to JSS, he's just better off singing more rocking material.

Perfect for Journey. It just isn't to be. Would have killed singing some fresh Journey rockers and if you think the guy is limited to rocking, then you need a further education on soul and JSS.

But, at least 2008 brings new Journey material. Looking forward as always to hearing this. And JSS's solo album of course. The demos are quite a departure for him, but to those that know his musical influences, some very natural material.

Awesome, hey thank you for clearing that up Andrew, and thank you Gin and Tonic Sky. Yeah I could imagine being on the road with Jeff would be an amazing experience! sounds like you had a blast mate, one of those "once in a life things" you'll never forget hey. I do value your opinion Andrew, because you are an expert in this field, certainly won't disagree with you on Jeff being one of the best ever. My Choices are, in no particular order

John Farnham
Steve Perry
Freddie Mercury
Jeff Scott Soto

All of these lads have their own quality and totally different styles, although sometimes Farnham reminds me of Perry, and vice versa, don't know why though...

I am looking forward to some more things from Jeff, though I guess like many of us we were pretty pumped to hear a new Journey album with JSS fronting. It's just hard to swallow from a fans point of view... oh well, that's life though isn't it :)

Cheers

No truer words! Jeff can throw down a soulful motown sound with the best of them. No examples on youtube. :(

Vladan, I couldn't agree more. I love Perry and he's got one of the finest voices and emotes better than anyone....EVER! But when it comes to strictly stage presence and showmanship, JSS has it in spades......and very vocally talented too. I was soooo looking forward to a new and refreshing Journey. :(

Ya, thanks a lot for the teaser Andrew.  Like we're not curious enough already....patience is NOT my middle name. :D
