I could give two shits how he sounds singing Perry's songs with Perry's inflection and Perry's melodies. If this is how he sounds when he has to originate his own thing then he (and Journey) will continue to stand in Perry's shadow.
Like I said, I'll give it a fair chance, but the man has got to bring it more than "it's over" quality vocals to impress me. I have higher standards.
