Don't Stop Believin' - new dance mix

Postby jrnyfan@nc.rr.com » Sat Jan 19, 2008 5:25 am

A DJ friend of mine passed the news along to me - some new dance remix version of DSB. It's by "Weekend Warriors" - they've apparently done this to a lot of other "classic" songs. Heard it and the vocals really are Perry-ish.

If anyone wants to hear it,there's a half minute sample HERE. Go to the 36th track.

Bah.I never liked such remixes of the classics.

That sounds pretty good to me.

Here's a direct link to the file.

I managed to lay my hands on this. Very perryish vocals. Good Schtuff:)

I am a lover of dance/techno music when i am in an uptempo kind of mood.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Deen Castronovo sang on both an acoustic version and a techno remix of DSB.

I've heard this before. I don't own it...but I've heard it. I do, however have one to share...not THIS one, but one with Perry's vocals in it.....by a dj called "The Hitmaker" - in fact, it was on my myspace page for a short time until my journey-ite friends threatened to disown me. It's not bad...it's not GOOD but it's not bad...

If you'd like to listen to it, you can download it right here.

Whoever makes a dance remix of ANY Journey song should be painfully put to death.

And if you think THIS is good....you ought to take a look at what happens when they actually use the BAND themselves in a VIDEO

I think I know  . Nothing against you, Jeremey, but some songs should never, ever be re-mixed, and DSB is one of them!

The best mix I've heard so far is the journey vs deepest blue promo club mix. I play it on my internet dance radio station.

You can hear it here.

It was an awesome job, you had my DJ friend convinced it was Perry and that they had just filtered the vocal.

I am not a fan of remixes. I have heard maybe 2 that I even liked.

You cant mess with a classic song like DSB, that is perfect the way it is and try to make it better - it just wont happen.
Once again, just some dumbass wanting to make money off someone elses name and hard work. There is alot of them out there today
When in doubt, DUCK!

Understand the time and place for dance mixes is not on the radio nor in the CD store. It's a specialized market. I'm not trying to defend one way or another, but it's not really making money off of people's hard work, when people are working hard themselves to create something new....Ripping people off by stealing their material without putting any work into it would really be burning CDs of and then reselling them...If a bunch of 21 year olds love DSB and a remix is played in the middle of a 3 hour dance mix at some club at 3 in the morning, isn't that really just promoting Journey any way? It's the only place a song like this would ever be heard anyway.

I don't see the harm in it and it's cool that their using some classic rock tunes. I don't care for techno much and can't just listen to it...but in the clubs it's fine.... I love to dance..dig seeing young people enjoying it too. Just wish they didn't make these mixes so long....I can't quite hang in there for the entire length......have to cut out before their ever through! I think some of them never end! anyway..it's fun stuff...and fantastic vocals, Jeremey! 8)

It's ripping them off only if:
a) the band has no say in whether or not the remix is allowed to be done in the first place and b) the band doesn't see a royalty from the sales of the remix.

Like it or not, the remix wouldn't exist if the original song wasn't created and popularized by the originating artist(s) in the first place.

PS: I was going to ask who sang that, because it doesn't sound like it's from the original Perry track nor does it sound like Perry. Even still, nicely done Jer.
