Journey/Survivor wrote:Funny how you like to pick and choose the facts that matter to you. .

Um, not quite. If you look at what I did...I simply picked the most prominent people in the same exact categories from each city and matched them up! Frankly, there were a gazillion people on your Cleveland list that many people in Cleveland probably haven't heard of, but I'm not getting into it with you, because we'll be here forever!

Journey/Survivor wrote:Then again you guys did have one of the worst child molester/rapist Bishops in the country.

First off, I would NEVER defend ANYONE who abuses a child (or anyone else, for that matter). That said, the fact that the Catholic church had a bunch of scumbags in it doesn't reflect badly on Boston, or any other city! The reality is that most of those guys weren't from Boston. Also, you should probably be aware that Boston has more Catholics, per capita, than ANY other city in America, so it would stand to reason that we have a whole lot more Catholic Priests than any other city! Therefore, a problem in the Catholic church is going to be MUCH more pronounced than most other parts of the country, where Catholics aren't even allowed!

Journey/Survivor wrote:The Cleveland Browns have WAY MORE HISTORY than the Patriots do! It wasn't until recent years that the Patriots have accomplished much.

I actually agree with this, but I also NEVER said the Patriots had more history than the Baltimore Ravens, er, I mean Cleveland Browns! I lumped all the professional teams together and gave Boston teams the edge, and stand by that! The numbers speak for themselves. As rich as the Baltimore Ravens, er, I mean Cleveland Browns history WAS, they haven't won a championship in 45 years! The last championship they won occurred 4 years after the Patriots actually became a team! Most of the rich Cleveland Browns history you speak of occurred during the 16 year head start they had on the Patriots organization!

Journey/Survivor wrote:And even then we can honestly wonder how many games and Super Bowls you would have won in recent years if it weren't for cheating?

I've already gotten into this argument, ad nauseum, so there is no need to rehash it here! As I said, I'd keep rolling tape on every team in the NFL, if I were the Patriots, or ANY other team! That's football!

Journey/Survivor wrote:You mention community college for Cleveland, but don't bother to mention Cleveland State University.

Right, and you shouldn't bother mentioning it, either! I mentioned Cleveland Community College as complete sarcasm! For starters, I've never heard of Cleveland State. Also, considering it doesn't even show up on lists that have the top TWO HUNDRED colleges in the country, I don't think it's worthy of being mentioned. Just like you said I wouldn't win the Patriots argument, you can end the college argument right here! You're not competing with Harvard and M.I.T., and nobody else is, either!

Journey/Survivor wrote:You seem to be ignoring that Cleveland had CY YOUNG who is from Cleveland, and played part of his career for Cleveland. Cleveland had John HEISMAN, as in the HEISMAN TROPHY. I didn't put him on the list, but Cleveland has Hall Of Famer Tris Speaker.

I didn't ignore it at all. I simply said that as a whole, Boston has turned out many more prominent citizens of this country! Did I mention the Heisman trophy is the biggest joke in ANY sport?

Journey/Survivor wrote:Out of Baseball, Football and Basketball, the only clear advantage Boston has over Cleveland is in Basketball. But even then we would have to go back to before Cleveland had a Basketball team for most of that advantage.

A couple of points. First and foremost the Celtics have won 5 championships since the Cadeavars joined the NBA in the 1970 season! The Cadeavars have been one of the absolute WORST franchises in ANY sport, since their inception! Also, the Celtics have 16 championships, which is 16 more than Cleveland has! Only the Yankees and Canadiens have more championships! As for the championship drought the Celtics have been in since 1986, you forgot to mention one very important point! Two VERY prominent Celtics (Reggie Lewis and Len Bias) players actually DIED, during that time! I challenge you to name one other team, in ANY sport, who had two prominent players die! Death of star players is a bit tough to re-cover from! I also don't agree that the Indians are on par with the Red Sox! The Indians haven't won anything in over 60 years, and have had a lot of really DREADFUL teams! Even when the Red Sox weren't winning championships, they were still fielding competitive teams and actually making World Series appearances!

Journey/Survivor wrote:And Cleveland has LeBron James, who will finish his career as the best player either team has ever had. And he's from nearby Akron.

Um, NO! That's your opinion! I personally think LeBron James is a GREAT player and a VERY gifted athlete! That said, if I started talking about all the great players the Celtics have had over the years, we'd be here for weeks! The NBA Hall of Fame should be re-named the Celtics Hall of Fame, because there are so many of them in there! Also, just like you call upon Jim Brown's past glory days, might I remind you of a guy named Bill Russell! LeBron has a VERY long way to go to even be in the same neighborhood as Bill Russell! Russell played in the NBA for 13 seasons, and won 11 championships! That is a record that will NEVER, EVER, EVER be topped by ANYONE, in ANY sport! As great as Jordan was (and he was the best player I've ever seen), he won HALF as many championships as Russell won!

Journey/Survivor wrote:Few more Cleveland facts....

The Cleveland Orchestra is considered to be one of the very best in the entire world, and the very best in the United States.

The Cleveland Zoo was recently ranked the second best in the country.

Cleveland was the very first city to have a rapid transit or subway system that connected the airport to downtown.

Glidden is headquartered in Cleveland.

Cleveland has one of General Electrics two main headquarters.

Mr. Hero was started here in Cleveland. I know the inventors daughter.

"Buffalo wings" were actually first "created" in Cleveland. A business man in Buffalo was the person who decided to start selling them in mass quantities, and that's how they became known as "Buffalo Wings."

Hamburgers were invented in the Cleveland/Akron area, as was the waffle cone.

A couple of points here...I don't know much about symphony orchestras or classcial music. That said, I know with 100% certainty that the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops take a back seat to nobody. As for all the "firsts"...I didn't get into ANY of those facts about Boston, but could have! Boston had the first public transit system in the country, the first public beach in the country, the first public school in the country, the first police department in the country, the first jet engine ever built in the country, blah, blah, blah, blah!

Listen Jamison Dude...you love Cleveland...I love Boston! I think Boston is FAR ahead of Cleveland in culture, prominence, sports, historical significance, and any other category under the sun! You feel the same way about Cleveland. Let's agree to disagree and move on. I just know that when I watch the Price is Right with your boy Drew Carey, they give away at least two trips a week to Boston. In 35 years, I've never seen one single trip to Cleveland! If you're not from Cleveland, there isn't much reason to ever go there, for most people. Although maybe the tour of the Glidden factory is riveting

for your 2 cents I'll add mine with these 2 things.....there are no threads here that stick to the original topic for long if at all, if you haven't noticed...secondly, this thread is funny as heck. Here's an idea that I'll throw in for free..if you don't like the direction it's taking then say something relevant to the topic to try to engage a redirect and just talk over other ongoing conversations, if it doesn't happen and no one wants to respond then relax and go with the flow or go on to the next topic. 8)

Hey, dumbass, I think you need to re-read what I said...I have no problem with threads going off topic or in disagreeing with something being said within. I have tried to redirect back to topic before also. If you keep feeling the compulsion to follow my posts and try to harass me at least come with something better then just these lame attempts you make to get me to talk to you. .. enough attention for you for one day.....have a good one..or just do the best you can without me. 8)
