OT: Tom Petty Live

Postby RumTumJM » Fri Feb 29, 2008 11:46 am

Just wonderin', when Tom Petty sings live these days (Super Bowl included), is it true he uses tapes for his vocals. I have heard this especially in regards to the choruses on Free Fallin' & I Won't Back Down?

Why does it seem that more and more of these rockers resort to pre-recorded material? I would rather hear it not exactly like the record but all live, although that is my own opinion.

Anyway, just wonderin' about Petty. Got tix to see him at MSG in June, and am excited. I have heard great things.

It's a good show, but kinda stiff. I don't think using tapes is his normal practice, can't speak for the super bowl performance but I think he's still all live. You'll enjoy his show if you go, but don't expect to hear crazy re-arrangements and such, it's pretty much like hearing the studio versions.
