My idea on how to fix the past couple of years...

Hey all,

Have not posted in forever... probably since TG. However I have a real idea on how to ammend some things that have happened in Journey in the past. Next tour, instead of going out there by themselves, or whatever their plans are, I would love to see this.

Tall Stories

Tailsmen

Journey

Tell me that would not make at least 90% of everyone here ecstatic. You cover the Steve Augeri fans, you cover the Jeff Scott Soto fans, and you cover the new era of Journey fans. Plus, every night. The former singers could guest spot on one song, at random, just to keep things really fresh. Like lets say the 2nd song of the night is Seperate Ways. Soto could bust in the song on the second verse out of nowhere. Or they play a encore of Higher Place, and Steve A. is there to sing it with Pineda. I am not by any means even suggesting kickin pineda off the stage for either of the guys, cause lets face facts, he is the lead singer now. But I think guest spots like that would be really cool. Plus it could kinda make up to both of them everything that happened because I dont believe either of them would play to crowds as big as Journey can get. So it would help their respective bands with exposure and it would give all the fans a chance to see their preferred lead vocalist. If they could mend whatever has gone down between the camps, I think this would be a very kick ass tour. I dont know how likely it is that we could get all three on the same bill, but seriously, why the hell not? I think it could bring back alot of the fans the band lost due to TG and the bs way that Soto got canned. I didnt care for soto as vocalist, and even I thought it was complete shit. I have always been partial to Steve Augeri over any of Journeys singers, and I know that it would make my freaking world to see Augeri with Journey live once again if only for just one song. They could even do a triple threat song! I think it would just be a good way to right alot of wrongs and make the Journey family expand and feel complete.
I want a new tour bus filled with old guitars...

Great Idea, I really like it and wish that it would happen, but business wise I don't think it would ever be possible. As much as I love Journey and am excited about the new lineup, they have to tour with at least 1 other real established classic rock band these days to play arenas like they want to. Without touring with another classic rock "radio airplay" band, they just wouldn't sell tickets as much as they want to. Look at how successful their tour with Def Leppard was. People want value for their buck. Maybe this lineup will do as good as I hope it does, and maybe some of these great new songs we have heard will cause them to be back in some sort of spotlight where they can sell more tickets on their own, but right now that doesn't seem to be the case.

Plus if I was Steve A., if it wasn't for the reason that a tour like that might get me in front of big crowds again, I would stay friggin clear of Journey, they already screwed him once.

My idea on how to fix the past couple of years...

How about they sweep tapegate under the carpet, forget the JSS hiring/firing scenario ever happened and bring in a singer that has the vocal prowess and tone of a young Steve Perry. Oh wait, they did!

Would love to see Steve Augeri or JSS back for a guest spot but lets face it things have moved on at quite a pace and its never going to happen.

So few people outside this board were ever even aware that Augieri and Jeff sang for Journey, that it would have no drawing power whatsoever on its own merit. People would go to the bathroom, thinking "Who the fuck are those guys"?
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Unfortunate, but true. The average number of people who post here are a group of rotating 25. Average amount of people at a Journey show are about 5000. Most of which are casual fans who probably don't even know Perry's been gone since 1996.

It would be a hugely nice and conciliatory thing for the band to do, but Journey is the only reasonable ticket draw in that grouping. It would mean pulling money out of their pocket to pay the other bands. Other than being nice, the J-boys have no incentive to do it.

Still, would be a lineup I'd like to see. I didn't like Augeri in Journey, but I do like him in Tall Stories. I'll look forward to their new album.
