Great Concerts on DVD

What Concert shows do you guys really enjoy watching on DVD. I just watched Birtles,Shorrock, and Gobles and it was great. They perform 29 songs with a mixture of solo stuff plus all the Little River Band Hits. The Moody Blues at the Royal Albert Hall is another one I like to watch and crank through the Stereo. Though not Rock , Celtic woman, a new journey is another favorite of mine and the wife. Besides the Escape 1981 Houston Show which is a give in, what do you guys like to watch that really sounds great in 5.1 stereo?

Rush in Rio.

Despite issues they had recording b/c of lack of time to set up, torrential rain, etc., the crowd is the most amazing part of the DVD. They even sang during the instrumentals -- "YYZ" comes to mind. Even on CD, it brings a smile to my face every time.

R30 is an incredible DVD -- visually and sonically -- but that Brazilian crowd can't be topped.

Live Evolution is good too.

A don't have a lot of concert DVDs, but a few others I do have that I enjoy are...

Journey - Vegas 2001 (mostly because I love watching Deen bebopping behind the drum kit :lol:

Too funny, exactly why I watched it too..........never really noticed the drummer in a band until that dvd.....love his personality coming through on that one.

I'm assuming these have to be official release concerts, no boots? I love collecting concert dvds.

I am thinking along the lines of DVDs that allow you to immerse yourself into the show when on a big screen with great visuals and Digital sound. There are a few boots that have been painstakingly cleaned up and had stereo added that really look great. An example would be the Journey concert in Tokyo 1981,( where the original Don't stop believing video was used for MTV). There are a few other proshot DVDs that look great on a home theater setup.

The latest David Gilmour dvd release is one of his best performances ever. The sound in 5.1 is amazing. A must own for even a casual floyd fan. Also, Graham Nash and David Crosby sing tons of backups which clearly shows that those three should have collaborated long ago.. Stunning performance. David Bowie makes a cameo singing Comfortably Numb as well. Top notch...

BSG is indeed an excellent live DVD... surprisingly great production and unsurprisingly great performances.

How can people have Queen+Paul Rodgers or JSS Queen Convention and not have
Queen Live at Wembley, or Live Killers?

Remove a legend and one of the greatest front men ever and replacing them with a warm body or a tribute. :lol:

I have Queen -Live at the Bowl, but actually watch JSS' dvd more........more songs, and I like the edge he adds to the Queen material.

Queen at Wembley could be great, but Freddie is SO flat live. I can't watch it... Great front guy, but lousy live pitch. The album they did was better because they 'fixed' it.

Don't know if I'd go so far as to call his pitch "lousy," but one thing about Queen live footage I've seen from the day, I feel like they are just one of those bands that constantly struggled with reproducing the massive sonic layers on their albums and the live performance, at least from an audio standpoint, suffered for it.

That's true, but Fred's pitch... yikes. They always kind of sidestepped the HUGE production numbers for their live shows (Bohemian Rhapsody a notable exception- though they did it funky)

Queen is on the top of my list.

Rod Stewart - Vagabond Heart Tour. He had the flu that night, but it was a PPV Valentines Day event, so he had to play. He was still incredible. Too bad it's been mostly downhill from there for me. The last one really bummed me out.

I saw him twice live just before that PPV show and all nights were great.
