Postby Rip Rokken » Sun Mar 16, 2008 7:13 am

I'd forgotten this was debuting this week -- SWEET!!! Notice on the site they use a variation of the theme music from the Bill Bixby series... and Ed Norton kinda resembles Bixby in a few shots... wow! This is going to KICK A!!!

Liked the way the Hulk looked. But I liked how the first movie's Hulk was like the comic books. Too bad the movie was ok at best.
I can't wait for the new Batman

I never really could understand why some people hated the CGI Hulk in the first one -- I thought it was incredible. If anything, the Hulk in this one looks way more cartoonish than the other one. I'd originally heard that they would maybe try for a mix of prosthetics and CGI -- if they are using prosthetics at all, it must be during the transformation sequence. I like it anyway, and maybe those shots of Hulk aren't polished yet. Just surprised they'd go that way with as many people griping about the CGI in the first film.

Both Iron Man and Hulk are Marvel's first two outings with their own film division, and as they've said, "We know best how to make our characters look good on the big screen." I'm expecting each to be awesome.

I think they are still working on Justice League -- it's in development, but was derailed for a bit by the writer's strike. Never heard much of an official cast announcement except for Wonder Woman and Batman -- and Wonder Woman was HOT! She looked perfect... check it out on IMDB.com

its not a comic strip movie, but sounds like a cool sci-fi remake will be Keanu Reeves in the new "The Day the Earth Stood Still"....

I have always been a DC fan. Nothing against Marvel, but DC heroes just seemed more "real" for lack of a better word-ERIC

Are you serious? Well, maybe that could be argued both ways. Marvel's heroes were supposed to be more "human", with flaws the reader could relate too, but they also had a good number of mutant-type heroes that were not quite as plausible. Most of DC's heroes were not really that plausible -- they just worked. And they had their share of muties, too. I don't really get into any of these beyond the major characters, so I can't really get into too much depth on this.

There's no comic book hero more human than Batman - best of the bunch. No super powers. Had to rely on brain power (and he's arguably the smartest in the DC Universe) and a body he built up on his on. But he bleeds. He can die. Yadda yadda.

Sure, there's still a bit of the suspension of disbelief. What Chris Nolan has done in the movies (last one and this upcoming one) has made it so a Batman-like person could exist based on current technology.

Both Marvel and DC have iconic heroes for a reason, and there definitely are people who prefer one to the other, but there's a reason Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Spiderman are the flagship heroes for their respective companies.

LOL point, counterpoint.

All comic book heroes have to have some sort of pain in their mythos to drive them.

Yeah, the 'humanity" is what I LIKED about Marvel. There heroes were far from perfect. Peter arker was a nerd with a shitty love life, Tony Stark was a drunk with a bad heart, Bruce Banner was ALL kinds of f'ed up, and don't get me started on the Xmen...

Here's a true Ed Norton story for you. He had a movie premiere a bout 4 or 5 years ago. Sorry, forgot which movie. But my nephew worked in the theater for the summer at the time, just taking tickets, sweeping, etc. While the movie was playing, Ed Norton came out of the theater and into the lobby and hung out with the kids who worked at the theater for a long time, at least a half hour. Really cool guy.

Wonder why Bana didn't do this one, or is this a "reboot (of a, what, 4-year-old franchise?)?"

I thought he was great as the hulk before.

No way - that was the worst superhero movie ever. Marvel wants to forget that one ever happened. Looks like they may have gotten this one right.

Did you see the one made in the 90's? That one is a guilty pleasure of mine -- definitely not all that it could be, but I really enjoyed it.
