Thats the problem I've had with warmoth...Their prices. They used to be tremendously reasonable. Now they're rediculous. To ask for 400 bucks for a body that's not finished, is just nuts. Then the necks, same thing....add a few options (somethings that would require no additional labor I might add) and bam, you're up to a 300 dollar neck.
700 clams for an unfinished body and neck, no hardware. To put together a righteous axe from warmoth, you're going to spend up around 1000-1200 bucks...and you still have to get out the credit card, dial up reranch for some lacquer to paint the fucking thing.
In the end, if you want to piece together a 'neal' axe that's already finished. You're looking at around 500-600 for a body, 3-450 for a neck, 170 for an OFR, 200 for pickups...add another 100-200 for hardware. Another 200 if you want to do the sustainer thing.
By my math, that's at least 1400 bucks for a guitar you still have to put together and hope it sounds alright.
After all is said and done, you'll be able to sell it for half that, if you're lucky.
And if you're going to spend 1500 on a 'neal' axe, you might as well buy something like a carvin singlecut with a floyd....you'll get a righteous axe that'll be put together better than you can do it (unless you've put together a handful of parts guitars...)
I've actually debated this very thing recently. I've pieced together 1100 bucks in spare change....looking for a righteous guitar to buy. If I had the difference, I'd be ordering a Carvin singlecut with a floyd....but 2 things stopped me. Price....and the floyd. I don't use the tremolo as much as I used to.
So I' just hoping and praying a beat to shit Gibson Les Paul falls in my lap....or an SG.
