GREAT GREAT INTERVIEW BUT.......

Postby yogi » Sun Mar 30, 2008 12:49 am

Andrew did an absolute fantastic job on his latest interview with Herbie Herbert. I have read and re read it. Fantastic, but... has anyone point blank asked Herbie what would have happened to Journey if Steve Perry didnt come along??

I read where they were about to lose their record deal. They should have been the next Grateful Dead, Steve cost everyone but Neal & Herbie millions because of Nocturne. Steve cost Herbie millions because he shut it down after Raised On Radio. Herbie still cant forgive himself for allowing Steve to pressure him into firing Steve Smith & Ross yada yada yada.

Still it is my belief that Steve Perry first off saved the band. He saved Herbies ass. Then he made them MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of dollars.

As GREAT as Neal, Ansley, Steve, Jonathan...........are it is and always will be THAT voice that first off saved their asses and then made them all millions.

Maybe Steve Perry is the biggest prick ever, so fuc..........king what. It's his voice them all the fame and fortune that they ALL got to share.

Without Steve Perry............. Would have Europe or Roxette or.............. even wanted Herbie??????????

Slamming your meal ticket, is that a good idea??????

What Herbie was saying was that Perry certainly brought a lot of success to the band. However, he may have cost them a lot of money and continued success because of some of the things he did within the band to undermine Herbie's vision, which you have to admit, was very successful apart from Perry. The band may have still been successful without Herbie's leadership, but I don't think many here would deny they probably wouldn't have achieved the level of success that they did.

Herbie was on the hunt for a singer. He happened to know of/come across Perry. I'm sure Fleischman's behind was on the line anyway, so if it had not been Perry, it would have been someone else and Journey as we know it would be Journey as we never knew it! :D
