More regurgitated talking points cribbed from staticy AM hate radio.

You didn't listen to any full sermon, cut the shit. I heard Beck and Savage for the past weeks trying to depict "black liberation theology" as something radical and dangerous to be feared...as if the church has nothing but Willie Hortons lining every pew.

You are an empty-minded receptacle of shit.

actually asshole I did listen to the full sermon and it made me physically ill. I love how when you are wrong, your ONLY resort is to throw someone into the AM radio brain dead category. AS IF you are so far superior and more enlightened. AS IF.

Maybe YOU should listen to Wright's full sermons and come back here and we can have an informed discussion. As of right now, only one of us has done so.

Have listened to several, most of what he says is spot-on accurate.
In fact, his healthy distrust of government shares many similarities to old school conservatism.

Saint John wrote:Obama figured out Wright's angle, but it's probably too late. You see, Wright does not want Obama to win. That is as plain as day. Wright recognized that Obama had a chance to win and started the derailment process immediately. Obama winning would have proven everything that Wright preaches wrong and he simply couldn't have that. Wright is exponentially better off if he can continue his divisive, "all whites, the government, and the police hate blacks" message.

I don't even know if that's calculated. Wright is the epitomy of arrogance and egomania. I think he wants to soak in the spotlight for as long as possible and he doesn't really care if he hurts Barack Obama in the process.

I personally believe the theory that Obama joined this church for black "streed cred" and for political purposes. Unfortunately for him, it came back to bite him in the ass. I doubt that Obama believes this bullshit that Wright spews, but I think his wife is completely drenched in this ideology.

Telling his "people" that the US government invented the AIDS virus to kill them is healthy? Comparing the US to Al Qaeda is healthy? He is certifiable. He throws in a bible quote every 10 minutes or so, but the main purpose of his sermons is to give political/anti American speeches.

If you believe what he believes, you're a lost cause.

"Typical"?
Typical of what?
Unless, as hard as you may deny it, you and your Deliverance co-horts are indeed capable of stereotyping and do so fairly often.

I just speak. It's not my problem if you are a sub-literate mouth breather.

Since BackTalk closed, this place has really become a haven for cousin sodomizers and other assorted backwoods trash.
Shame.

Judging by some of your many past homo-erotic comments, one might think you're one of these "cousin sodomizers and other backwoods trash."

I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged.

Why is that an asshole statement? It is perfectly valid. I guess, by your thinking...you can also be a patriot if you like the fact that Bush has driven jobs out of america, created an atmosphere ripe for OPEC's financial raping of this country and systematically stripped us of one civil liberty after another...

conversationpc wrote:He also makes it sound like Bush just willy-nilly wants to tap everyone's phone conversations. Not true.

For someone who is seemingly a 'conservative' you have a very warped view on the concept of governmental restraint. Let me clue you in on something...it doesn't exist. While you might think that the patriot act is good for us, the truth of the matter is that it protects us from an imaginary threat while seeking to slowly strip certain liberties from the public. You might want to actually read the patriot act(s) for yourself before repeating rush limbaugh drivel. But the fact remains that front-line freedoms/liberties removed in the patriot act are only the first step. When the powers that be feel the general public has accepted their new found constrictions, they'll dream up some new found boogie man to come up with another round of freedom constrictions....

It seems that Conservatives understand this concept with gun-control. Almost all conservatives are unwilling to give an inch with gun control, knowing that when a certain type of magazine or stock gets banned, it's only the beginning of a systematic constriction of 2nd amendment rights. Yet they belly over on Bush's absolutely disgracefully unconstitutional patriot act.

Sorry...anyone that supports *anything* in the patriot act, while advertising oneself as a conservative, is a flat out hypocrite.

There is something to be said for fire-and-brimstone dramatics and pulpit punding oratory.
Not everything in a sermon need be true.
Again, you have pulled ONE thing out of context.

Talking about the ramifications of foreign policy, aka what the CIA calls "blowback", is not the same thing as making an outright comparison.
He never did such.
MLK was political too and was also decried as a communist sympathizer by racist scum.

NC, exactly how is "the government invented HIV AIDS to kill people of color" out of context? How many ways are there to interpret that, exactly?

That was merely a footnote in the larger context of his sermon. He didn't tell the masses to take arms against the government because they've been infected with AIDS. It was mentioned in the middle of a laundry list of where our government has failed to meet the ideals it was founded upon. So the "aids thing" is pretty stupid. Big deal.
