Did someone delete the Engrish.com thread? If so, was there something wrong with it? I guess all it took was one or two people to scream "racism" and ruin a perfectly harmless thread. I've seen the same thing posted on several other band forums, and no one else took offense to it. I don't blame the mods for deleting a thread when someone pushes it off the deep end... but it's sad that one or two people can cause such a trainwreck when no one else thought it was racist at all. It was pure innocent humor.

I really didn't see it coming. Oh well. It's ironic that it was humor about the very place that doesn't allow their citizens to see such things on the Internet.

The problem with the thread is that it was hypocracy in action. Folks were hung and crucified here over the past year for statements that may or may not be interpreted as racist (frankly, national culinary habits/interests is NOT a racist issue, and never was...and anyone thinking otherwise had alterior motives), yet it was ok to make fun of an entire race for their inability to acurately translate the english language.

Frankly, the phrase "arnel eats dogs" was fucking lame ass mild manered bullshit compared to some of the flat out racism in the engrish thread. Filipinos (not all, some or most, who knows) eat dogs. That's what they do. I eat cows. just another animal in a long list of consumed beasts...but it was ok to post a fucking laundry list of pictures showing translation snafu after translation snafu in an effort to portray asians as those that can't translate english to save their lives?

To make absolute blanket humor out of what was portrayed as an entire race's inability to acurately translate and/or convey the english language, was fucking wrong. MOST SIGNIFICANTLY, in light of the fact that people have been not only ostracized but banned from this website for the arnel/dogs comments.

So in reality, you might have been just posting a very innocent little ditty about asians....but the fact that you were among those that were throwing the racist grenades in the past, I would consider the very existence of such a thread, an absolutely disgraceful act of sheer hypocracy...and you should consider yourself downright fucking lucky that certain people felt it was apropriate to smite such a hypocritical thread displaying outright racism from the public record of this site...instead of the more apropriate move, which was to leave it here and all those involved to burn in the fires of public crucifixion instead. And for those that think my language is too fucking fire and brimstone....I can give you a list of people not able to post here because they've been labeled with the cowards scarlett R.... shame!

Next time, you might actually be crucified, banned from this place and outcast from the internet....like those far less fortunate before you.

While this one really didn't offend me..and I don't believe this was was posted for 'shock' value..I believe sometimes there are certain things posted here..some verging on racism..that are posted here for shock value because it will get reaction here.

This is outright lunacy.

Absolutely. Voyagers post did nothing but make fun of signs that translate humorously in English. No one person or race were attacked. That cannot be said for the response by the person you're defending Frank. Try again.

While I understand where you're coming from Po8, and I respect it. The fact remains that the racism card that has been abused beyond all reason here...and there's a long lost of people that have been tainted with such a reckless use of the card. Myself included.

I found the thread completely and utterly offensive....and I consider those that either posted in it (in support of) or those that started it, damn lucky the thread no longer exists...because it would have served to display the blatant hypocracy of the very scism that has ruined a great deal of relationships here and elsewhere in online journeyville.

Given such involvement, the existance of the thread was downright disgraceful. Voyager...who were your parents? What nation were they from? Again, Im not protecting anyone...simply calling attention to the fact that there exists a significant amount of hyporacy in how this went down. It's pretty sad...and anyone that can't see such a thing clearly, when the thread was happening, seems to be conflicted by their involvement in the thread.

St John made it very clear, in the thread, his disaproval of such racism....and I applaud him for it. Sadly, not many others had such convictions...

Folks.....the thread was removed because it centered one just one small area....had it been a wider and more inclusive example of humorous signs, then it may have passed.

But because it wasn't - some people with adgendas decided to hijack it and that was very disappointing. I question the motives of these people and what they really have to offer here. But I'll save that for another day.

And I'm going to close this thread also, as this is such a sore topic among some that chaos is bound to follow.

I'm sorry that we must be so politically correct at this point in time, but the damage inflicted by some drive-by posters has caused a delayed carry on effect.

Sorry you feel that way about this board Frank. It’s too bad that you still cannot see the difference in peoples motives behind what they post, why they post it and sometimes the timing of their posting. There are people who post things here innocently enough and then there are those who have “reasons” for posting what they do, and then try to play innocent while pointing fingers elsewhere. These people will hijack threads that were started as innocent humor or whatnot, and when the shit hits the fan thanks to them, they want everyone else blamed as well and try to play victim.

The difference is as plain as day to myself and Andrew. The people who cannot see it are usually blinded by their own agendas.
