I bet it'll be up for download before the June date.

Little bit of quick math: There are around 3000 Wal-Mart stores in the US. It would take each store ordering 334 copies of the CD to go platinum.

No, because they only need to sell 500,000 copies to go Platinum because it is a 2 CD set.

DVD Platinum is 100,000.

I have NO IDEA how a mixed media package "certifies".

I'm reading a lot on the board about the "casual fan" purchasing the disc out of curiosity.

Not that it affects the sales quota, but which disc do you think will get more play from the curious "casual fan"?

Do you see any chance of the "casual fan" returning the disc because it's not the Greatest Hits version that they were expecting? I only say this because there are a ton of rerecorded-only compilation albums and songs on I-Tunes, and the customer comments are always less than flattering, because they felt that they were duped into purchasing a knock-off product.

Once a CD is open you cannot return it. Of course you could put a big scratch in it and say it was like that when you opened it, but still...returns will not amount to much and I am not sure they subtract from sales totals (Unless they are actually sent back to a record label, since there isn't one...)

I think the curiosity will cover the package. I think the re-records are on there for the sole purpose of getting the consumers attention with recognizable names. But I also think that both CDs will get played out of that curiosity.

I don't think so because it is not being marketed, as far as I can tell, as a greatest hits package. The title is Revelation, a 2-CD set with a bonus DVD. Adding a bonus DVD is becoming so common now that many fans actually look forward to it. As with many 2 CD sets, the focus is more on the first disc than the second disc. The first CD is almost all new material, hence the new original album name, Revelation. With these sets whether the second CD is made up of live tracks, unreleased demos, or studio re-records, I believe that most fans view these as kind of an icing on the cake. Add in the matter of the price, $11.88, which alone would be a steal for a new album, and I don't think many would expect to get more than just one disc of new material. I think the only fans who will be offended are those who feel it is sacreligious to re-record hits originally sung by Perry with a new singer.

I have a sinking feeling that the "Revelation" CD/DVD set is going to be in that cardboard case rather than a real jewel case. I HATE those with a passion.

I thought the same thing, but then I remembered that the 3-disc REO set was in a hard case. There's hope yet.

Sushi Hunter,

Sorry, I only come here on the board in short spurts when I find time. You said to move on, but I feel I'm being attacked for commenting on my personal experience. I have lived in Reno, NV since 1991, the past 12 years have been owner of a mail&ship business that also does Western Union money transfers. Just 3 or 6? Hardly. My encounters with foreign-born customers that send money back home are literally in the hundreds. Filipino's were brought up because we are discussing Arnel. I have nothing against him or the Filipino people. Reno has just as many Chinese immigrants, and many more Mexicans, that are illiterate in English, as Filipino's. It is the dynamics of this state that I live in.

Now, in California, specifically the SF Bay Area, where I spent the first 35+ years of my life, those personal experiences were totally different. I always worked in an office. Had many Asian friends and professional acquaintances. Everybody was educated. You have to be to afford the high cost of living there.

Okay, just wanted to defend myself. We can move on now.

I used to send my girlfriend money back home in the Philippines too. I used to send cash though, and it would always make it to her. I'd send an old polaroid 1-step photo with one 50 or 100 bill inside it. Just cut one end of the photo, slip in the bill and glue the cut edge back together. It worked every time. Wow, that was in the 80's.....seems like a hundred years ago.

The longer you wait to buy it, the cheaper it will be. The WalMart Garth Brooks collectors set was $4.95 at my local Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. ;) lol...
