My god the playing on that You're Not Alone is putrid. He really butchered the two great album solos from that song. I saw another clip of him where it wasn't nearly that bad - different, but not horrendous like that. He had a few cool whammy bar ideas in there, but they get lost amidst the rest of the shit he plays... that was like a kid who just learned how to do 3 note string runs but can't do them in time with any music yet. Horrible.

Geez, if you're such a hotshot guitar player, how's about going over the Dawayne's forum and challenging him to a guitar faceoff?

When did I say Dawayne was a bad guitar player? That was a horrible performance in my eyes, I don't care if it's Dawayne, Kath, John Petrucci, Neal Schon, or Larry Carlton up there... if that performance came out of any of their fingers, I'd think it was terrible. I might not have Dawayne's chops but I could definitely lay something more tasteful down than that particular performance. Like I said in my original, there WAS another video of YNA where I enjoyed Dawayne's additions on YouTube, but I can't find it on there anymore.

I never understand people replying to criticism with shit like this... if people weren't allowed to form opinions on any music unless their ability at least matched the performer's, what's the point of listening at all?

EDIT: Here's a great video where I think Dawayne's quirky style shines through without being overbearing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DkKRFUb ... re=related

I never understand why people express their personal subjective opinions as though they are facts (ie. "I didn't like that group" vs. "everything that group did sucked") but people do that too. Cause of many a flame war, sadly.

Obviously, though, I misjudged your original post and I appologize.
