As I said though, I'm still surprised that he put THAT many Journey songs on the setlist for that tour.
Because he is just as much saddled with the audience's expectation of hearing those songs as Journey still is. If he got up on that stage and didn't do DSB, Separate Ways, Faithfully, Lights and LTS, people would go mental on him. Don't ask me what GCHI or IBAWY were doing in there. That tour/promotion didn't last long enough for people to remember those the same way as DSB, et all.
Exactly...just play the 5 you listed above, which keeps the loons at bay. He could have survived without playing Only the Young, Any Way You Want It, Girl Can't Help It, Dixie Highway, I'll Be Allright..--and that's after he dropped Open Arms and Stone in Love from the first night. My only comment was that you could put other songs in there from Street Talk (80% was never played live), or a few others from FTLOSM (Stand Up sounded great the one or two times it was played)--which most are in a lower range.
Personally, I prefer the ones you mentioned above way more than the dirty dozen.
Jeremey wrote:Unlike Journey when they've toured with a new release the past 7-8 years, Perry DID manage to put a HUGE chunk of FTLOSM tunes into his show, which I really respected.

maybe, but after the opening night's performance of Stone In Love, I don't that song was heard from again on the FTLOSM tour. Judging from the problem's he had that night on the song, I don't think it's coincidence either. That's a high song to sing.

I was there that night. What were the three songs he played that night, the he didn't play again. I know Stone In Love and Open Arms were two. What was the third? Wasn't it Send Her My Love. Right?

Geez, you like acronyms!

Bullshit. Then why where the songs on the ROR tour sung as if you were listening a to an old cassette that someone hit "fast forward" on?
As opposed to recent "Journey" shows when you were actually listening to an old cassette Dan? Please excuse Perry if he refuses to lip and defraud his fans like "Journey" does. But at least they were out on the road for you huh?
Try and stay on topic please. I don't see the correlation between an ex-member that lipped and Perry flying through the songs on the ROR tour.

You're not gonna try and pull the "Augeri lipped while the rest of the band had no idea what was going on" card are you?
The way I see it Schon and Cain were free of Perry's pull, pride, and artistic morality which allowed them to mime. They Journey didn't defraud the fans for the fans. They defrauded the fans for the money and the money only.
Perry's on the high ground in this situation.
You criticize Perry, his ego and his destructiveness to the band and it runs counter to your argument that Perry's a better frontman than Mercury. Mercury was better!

Four of the best damn Journey songs ever made right there.

1) I have never condoned the lipping that went on. However, not knowing the legal issues/ramifications I'm not sure if they could have pulled the plug. I do think they should have had a better backup plan ready, though. Augeri had been showing signs of impending total voice loss for quite some time. Perry, and his pseudo-musicians, disappointed a few thousand people when they pulled the plug....it went largely unnoticed. Journey had a few hundred thousand tickets already sold for the Journey/Def Leppard tour (which Journey clearly opened).
2) Perry simply can't function, write, tour or record completely absent of Journey. He has more than proven that. He should get his head out of ass and call Neal and Jon, apologize for the decade he stole from them, and move forward.
3) The only thing Mercury was better than Perry at was using his sphincter for a meat locker.
