 Whatever dude. People go to the movies to be entertained. You'd say you'd go to see a cartoon, hardly what I'd call "manly".

I thought this movie was ok. Some people complained about the special effects, but looking at this from purely the 80's iconic view that this movie is based from, I thought the effects were up to par. The script wasn't up to par, and I really hope this wasn't the "reworked" script that they had promised, because it failed miserable in that regard. However, overall, it was nice to see Indiana Jones on the big screen one more time. Apparently the large majority liked it because it brought up huge numbers it's first week.

The massive numbers don't real represent the quality of the flick. The nostalgia factor is huge here and will play a real part in the movies overall success. Guaranteed there are as many (if not more) disappointed people leaving cinemas post Indy as there are those who enjoyed it and all of them paid for the privilege.

Iron Man is just Daredevil with twenty extra million thrown at it.
When the hero and arch nemesis finally have their obligatory climactic showdown (yawn), and you can't even be bothered to straighten out your reclining theatre chair posture, that's when you know you have seen a scenario play out one too many times.
Waaay overrated.

There's a good first hour in there, I'll grant you that.

Three poor selling albums and counting, I would like to think that Journey fans, of all people, are well aware that financial success has nothing to do with quality.

And I'll grant you that the climax was not the most original, but overall this was a tight, well scripted, and for once , well-ACTED superhero film. To compare this movie to Daredevil is WAY off the mark! Downey and Bridges (he's the DUDE for God's sake:) are FAR superior to Bennifer and Colin freaking Ferrell - are you kidding me???
I don't think of IM as a kids movie either. I mean, come on...what parent wants their kids role model to be a scotch swilling poon hound??? No, it reminded me more of a good, strong BOND type of film. I totally disagree that this was overrated...

As for SPPEDY, haven't seen it, so it's hard to make a real call, but advance reviews were AWFUL, previews looked ridiculous and only a 20 million opening? Yes, I know b.o. numbers don't always equal quality, but I find that ESPECIALLY with the summer "blockbusters" , the cream usually rises to the top. It's one thing for a film like that to open strong, and THEN tank, but to not pull in better numbers than that? Either a) no one gives a shit or b) people are still angry about how the Wachowski Bros fucked up the MATRIX trilogy (this would be what's keeping ME away!) Perhaps I'm wrong- I'll let you know in about three months when Speedy comes to video...

BTW- If anyone rushes to the defense of the last two MATRIX films, Im going to the STYX board!!!

Daredevil was so bad I turned it off about 20 minutes in. Iron Man was so good I didn't want it to end. I do agree with TNC that the final battle wasn't good enough.

That's what drew me in, in spite of the bad trailers. The Wachowski's haven't directed a film since 2003. I figured they knew they had to deliver, and they did.

Don't waste your time. Catch it in on the big screen or don't bother (preferably IMAX).

Certainly the nostalgia factor is what helped them the first week. How the movie does the next few weeks will tell the tale.
